GOING FOR THE SERIES WIN!!

Both starting pitchers aim to improve on their previous starts when the visiting Toronto Blue Jays play the New York Yankees on Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game series.

The Yankees won 3-2 Saturday afternoon on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth by pinch hitter DJ LeMahieu.

Right-hander Kevin Gausman (1-2, 3.65 ERA) will try to shake off an unusually poor start Monday against the host Houston Astros.

The Yankees will start right-hander Clarke Schmidt (0-1, 8.79), whose struggles continued Tuesday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

Can we please stop with the Varsho as the cleanup guy?

Dude belongs in the bottom 3rd of the lineup. Find good left handed batters if you want to "balance" the lineup.

The other lefty option for cleanup would be Belt.

Though I tend to agree that Varsho shouldn’t be hitting cleanup. I see him more in the 6 spot

Important game. These divisional games are just so much more important and the Rays just continue rolling.

So far into this short season, we've had four games which could have been winnable but for a twist of fate.

Same story as other seasons. They need to start winning more of those games. The pitching is a concern

This guy has been brutal this season, if we cant hit with RISP this time around and win a series against an extremely banged up Yanks then I dunno what to think

We really need to beat the Yankees today because we are playing on all cylinders. The Yankees are hanging with us and they have half their rotation out as well as position and pen starters.

When the Yankees get back to full health, they will be better and tougher.

We need to take games while we can. Yesterday was vs Cole, so tough to win that.. Though we had a chance and our fully intact pen blew it…

Springer has really been struggling at the plate since his 5 hit game on opening day. Average now below the mendoza line. And OPS under .600.

Im sure this guy with a 9 ERA will have like 7Ks, 4 hits and 1 earned run. Seems like pitchers love having get right games against us

Yep. Gotta make hay while the sun shines right now. Hopefully Schmidt doesn't turn into Greg Maddux today.
