I had friends saying we needed to back up the truck for Manoah early. This is not Strider or Cease. He is better than this clearly but there are reasons to project him anywhere 2-4. Kind of like Stro was for us any given year.

He's a good #3 when he's right and BABIP is normalized.

Jansen catching Manoah (until he figures things out), Berrios & Kikuchi.

 

Kirk catching Gausman & Bassit (since he calls his own game).

 

I think that's optimal because the former 3 are temperamental and need to be walked through their starts with perfect calling and setups.

I like him and his arm. He battles. I never liked the hype or some of the cockiness. I couldn’t watch the Hazel Mae series on him. I mean I want him to do well for himself, his Mom and the team 100%, but too much hype for my liking. Over time it rubs a lot of people wrong. Remember how awesome 2015 was with Stro coming back and pitching well when few thought he could? “Wolverine”. Eventually a lot of people went sour on all the hype. Especially when he didn’t deliver on the bump.
