THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 took every ounce of power in his body + helpful wind to clear the wall by one inch I noticed the same thing, wall-scraper power.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 took every ounce of power in his body + helpful wind to clear the wall by one inch Looks like it had plenty of mustard on it
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Moreno getting it going. Varsho trade was a mistake!
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 This is really going to end up biting us isn't it?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 This is really going to end up biting us isn't it? Yup that was an awful trade.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Yup that was an awful trade. A few of us hated it at the time, and were huge on Frasso, and the rest of the cult think s*** on us for it.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Mostly just Terminator Yeah was thinking of him, but wasn't going to single him out.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Frasso's mechanics look awful.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Yup that was an awful trade. Mitch White is gonna be a lot better than people are expecting
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Mitch White is gonna be a lot better than people are expecting Based on what
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Based on what His projections for this season are actually kinda decent and I feel like there’s room for improvement just from watching him last year.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 His projections for this season are actually kinda decent and I feel like there’s room for improvement just from watching him last year. His projections look pretty bad to me. A 7 K/9 reliever
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 His projections look pretty bad to me. A 7 K/9 reliever Mainly looking at the FIP/xFIP. And looking at him as a depth starter/spot starter. Anyways I don’t think he’ll be great or anything like that, just meant he’s better than what most people on this board think of him. He’ll be a useful piece.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 A few of us hated it at the time, and were huge on Frasso, and the rest of the cult think s*** on us for it. The Board doesn't seem to like takes in between. Its like there is a FO Fanboy take - they are brilliant and can do no wrong - they walk on water compared to everyone else and we got back to back 90+ W seasons - everything is awesome - you are all ignorant losers if you don't realize how great they are - don't look at the prospects dealt - or the bad signings & deals - the unsigned long term pieces and the escalating payroll - playoffs are 1 million percent a crap shoot and then there are the takes that we should fire them all - they suck. Not much in between. Overall this FO has been solid IMO. Lots of positives and lots of room for criticism. Thats the point of the Board IMO - to debate these things and to vent sometimes when we feel the need to, as die hard Jays/baseball fans.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 This is really going to end up biting us isn't it? not really a fan of that arm action
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Frasso has only thrown more then 4 innings once in his entire milb career. Mitch White put up similar numbers as a 24 year old in AA.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Frasso's delivery is very reminiscent of Adam Ottavino to me. Can't think of many other RHP with such pronounced cross body deliveries that are part of a rotation. He probably still projects as a good reliever, which is basically what we knew at the time of trading him. 24 in AA with good stuff, a funky delivery, weird arm action and previous injury history seems like it's just about inevitable that he ends up in the bullpen.

It's also the Dodgers... so good chance pitching depth will also be a factor in him never really getting a chance there to be an MLB SP.

It's one side of the other, mostly the 1st side. There are a lot of posters that absolve the FO, the Manager, players, etc of all criticism and point to retorts such as "LOL Small Sample" or "LOL TINSTAAP" type of nonsense. I think when something looks stupid immediately, in many of those cases it is, and you shouldn't be met with a contrarian POV immediately just because it's not a white or black take on the team.

The mechanics definitely are a WIP, but the stuff and ability to generate Whiffs are there and have been since he debuted. If the mechanics get sorted he could absolutely dominate major league batters. I just get equate the potential of a talent like that to Mitch White.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 His cross fire action reminds me a bit of Jared Weaver.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Frasso has an outside shot at being a back end Starter. And he has the stuff to pitch at the back end of any bullpen. That’s his worst case scenario. Mitch White stuff isn’t even comparable. He could be the 5th Starter on a rebuilding team but best used as a Swingman or Longman on a good team. A depth arm on a World Series contender. That trade was puzzling the moment it happened.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I mean - isn't that exactly what this team needed? In a sense yes. I just don’t think we should have traded Frasso to get that guy. We do need length though. Our bullpen arms are going to blow out in June at this rate.
