Like I guess if you live somewhere without a major-franchise team then I could understand getting attached to the local college/A ball team.

But i’ve lived in the GTA my entire life and major league teams have always been available to watch.

Idk I still don’t get the infatuation with college sports

It's definitely more of a US thing to get all attached to the university or college's athletcis program. People claim to be a Bulldog or a Fighting Irish until they die just because they went to school there. Identifying with the uni sports team just isnt as big a deal in Canada.

My answer to all of those is… no.

Sure i’ve seen a few here and there but not more than like 5 or so in my lifetime.

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a highschool or Uni sport game.

College football is an experience and a social event in the U.S males, females and non-binary alike party their asses off on game day and have a great time socializing pre game, during a game and post game.

Homecoming is awesome at a good school. The Florida vs FSU games are some of the best sporting events I have ever been to. Tailgating, drinking kegs at the law school and listening to music blasting from fraternity row on a beautiful October day in Gainesville and watching a game at the Swamp surrounded by Orange and Blue is a an fnnnn awesome experience... It is all about the experience even if watching at a bar with friends, eating wings and drinking buckets or pitchers... You should try it!!

I would watch more College Baseball if it was readily available. I really don’t enjoy going down the internet rabbit hole to find something.

I just don’t think I can get into the WBC unless I see the Canadian players care more. We really have no shot at getting out of the group if our best Pitchers don’t show up. You can only get upsets with great pitching. The teenage A-Ball pitcher they trotted out against Team USA was pretty embarrassing.

So, you're saying I shouldn't have gotten my Durham College Lords neck tattoo?

(note: For the purposes of this joke, I had to google the name of the Durham College sports teams, even though I went to Durham College).

Do you not watch the MLB playoffs after the Jays are eliminated?

I don’t understand the infatuation with College sports that America has. Wouldn’t you want to watch the best?

What makes sense about the infatuation with pro sports? As Jerry Seinfeld says, you're basically cheering for laundry.

And better players doesn't mean better on field product. Plus, college sports in America has a much deeper history, longer rivalries (frankly college rivalries make pro rivalries look like they aren't even rivalries) and way more regional and academic ties.

Take someone living in North Carolina, for example. Yeah they could watch "the best" and tune into the Hornets getting their asses beat on a nightly basis. Or you can cheer for the Tar Heels, a historically successful program with Hall of Famers like Michael Jordan among its alumni, huge games against big rivals, and a place where you and half your family going back 4 generations all went to school.

That's probably an extreme example but it extends all across the country.

Interesting strategy starting Imanaga

USA players have never faced him as opposed to Darvish who was maybe the expected option. His stats in Japan are very good.

Article on him:

Could be that the Padres said no to Darvish pitching.

I know Arte/Angels said no to Ohtani pitching because they want to line him up to start opening day. Stupid, considering Sandoval just started yesterday. They could have lined up Sandoval for opening day and Shohei for game 2

Yes but not every game. Probably a handful that I’m interested in. I really don’t have time to watch Baseball all night during the week.

Your life is a pack of lies!!!

I have no reason to lie about not watching this tournament. I might turn it on if Japan is ahead late in the game.
