I dunno… this window could close earlier than we think. You really need a constant stream of talent.

 

Well, that's what I meant by timeline, it can be very good shortly in consideration of the young kids write ups. And future drafts and IFA's.

I’m pessimistic because this division is really really good and shows no sign of getting worse. I’d expect baltimore and boston to have more talent in the majors next year. The yankees and rays looks like they will be perenially good.

 

So, you need to be good at everything and we obviously lag in a number of areas.

Nor am I, but I try bro. I really try to be center, a realist. I'm just not a sky is falling type, I try to keep it in retrospect, regardless of the tough skids.

 

 

ETA: As I always say... It's a real long season. And we're top 3 in most SOS's thus far that I've been following.

Well according to that GM poll we aren’t elite at literally anything. I’d say it is absolutely obvious that we aren’t elite or anywhere near it at pitching dev. Which is what you expected me to say lol.

 

We need to fire Atkins. We should have done it years ago. It shouldn’t have taken this long to build up a stock of arms in the minors. We STILL don’t have much pitching depth in AAA. How the f*** did we hire the cleveland guys who don’t do pitching?

I think this is a 90 ish win team until the start of 2026 at least. At that point I don’t think anyone has a clue what is the realistic window is or whatever one wants to call it. Too many major variables that could change things between now and then.

 

I don’t count on Ricky T anymore than I did Big Nate for obvious reasons.

I'm not worried much about Atkins, if it were to happen I wouldn't care, as long as Shapiro's our President, etc... he brought us the Development Lab in Dunedin where all these kids have access to 24/7 in all levels including MLB, patience man, that s***'s going to change dramatically in pitchers especially. Players are signing here for the technology the Jays have now.

 

I’m going to be hearing about this lab for years before we see one nasty homegrown reliever.

 

The Rays are probably working in a building without air conditioning.

Who has Pete lost in the MLB that has excelled in the MLB consistently? How do you then look at that without knowing s***. PW is highly regarded, and has helped guys in given years and couldn't fix others. It's a lose lose job, but a good one. He must be good.

Its not really how about good he is either. Its just that we hired guys from one of THE best pitching orgs in the majors and they didn’t even bring their own coach. That was a bad sign regardless of Walker’s quality.

Why though, maybe they felt Pete was stronger? Or they weren't available for a variety of reasons. I believe they replaced almost everyone in some departments... I'm sure MS figured this s*** out before doing anything drastic.

Because you are instituting a new culture and a whole new way of doing things. And you are coming from an org that had already at that time shown they were better at this than us.
