BTS Community Moderator Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Trade for either Tommy Edman or Brendan Donovan! What would the Jays have to give up? Clearest path would be hoping the Cards like Manoah and would be willing to ove Matz to the bullpen.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Padres traded for Soto and have a top 10 farm in baseball prior to trading him to the yankees. Its absolutely an organizational failure to be in the bottom 10, when you consider the resources they have available to them. The lack of ability to build it back up is holding Atkins back. Give him a consistenly good farm to deal from and he'd be cooking every offseason.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Let's go dumpster diving! Bring me Donaldson, Joc Pederson and Randal Grichuk on one year deals. 1. Springer 2. Bo 3. Pederson (L) 4. Vlad 5. Schneider 6. Kirk 7. Varsho (L) 8. Donaldson 9. KK (L) C- Jansen UT- Kinder-Falafel UT- Biggio (L) OF- Grichuk Getting swept in the Wild Card round will be easy to make.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Short answer is because Andrew Friedman is probably the best GM in baseball in recent memory and has the right people doing the right things in the right places. But even a quick glance at their roster... 17 home grown players on the 40 man roster. Jays? 17 homegrown on the 40 man roster. I'll get a bit more deep into it in a few posts to compare the respective home grown players on each team. Dodgers success with prospects predates Friedman. They were the first team to establish a baseball academy in the DR, in 1987. Now all 30 teams have a training facility in the DR. As long as I have followed baseball, the Dodgers have always been ahead of the curve when it comes to prospects and player development.

Grichuk wouldn't be that bad sharing play time with KK in the OF. Only other RHB that seems logical is Duvall given the Jays need some pop. Would prefer Duvall over Grichuk. Don't mind Pederson at all on a one-year deal as a DH if the Jays miss out on Hoskins or JDM. Plus with Pederson is he's a lefty bat as well which is nice. Plus I'm sure a bat like Duvall or Grichuk could slot in as a DH against tough lefties if they decide to keep KK in the outfield. If the Jays went dumpster diving for a 3B, would prefer Longoria over Donaldson haha. I would love them to trade for Donovan or Edman from the Cards. Gives the Jays plenty of options and versatility all around the roster.

Falaffle is the 3B over those old farts Longo and Donaldson I think if the Jays bring in any other 3B it's either a clear upgrade through trade or a LHB potential platoon partner
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Jesus Christ, are we planning to tank in 2024? You guys know about the new draft lottery, right?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Forget I said Pederson we can just use Horwitz.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Donaldson has one last ride in him. The defense is holding and the power is there. 80 games of a Yankee revenge tour in 2024 before blowing out both of his calves and retiring. I believe.

Let's hope they sign Hoskins or JDM as a DH. Sign Duvall or Grichuk to share playing time with KK in the outfield. Trade for Edman or Donovan from the Cards or Polanco from the Twins to play 3B and/or around the infield. Happy with the KK signing, definitely didn’t want IKF but if he is a Biggio/ Espinal upgrade and not the Chappy replacement it kind of makes sense. Certainly raises the floor and provides greater versatility. Espinal has always been hilariously overrated due to a decent 6 month stretch. The bitching on here is insane. They aren’t f***ing done! The bats will be announced soon enough and then we can dissect the offseason in its totality

I watched enough Yankees games last year to see his career is over I'm telling you he can play league average defense, hit .220 with 15 homers in 80 games and throw up a war and a half before getting hurt and turning things over to Kinder-Falafel. And he'd only cost 5 mil bucks to do it. Do I think we should aim higher? Yes. But while I like Kinder Falafel I think we should look to get a 3B who can chip in 60-80 games 3B. Donaldson fits that bill and so does Justin Turner.
