Gotta say I don’t really like this move. Don’t like having both KK and Varsho in the OF at the same time. I also don’t think KK will repeat his success from 2023.

 

As a 4th OF, Keirmaier is perfect but 10 million is alot for a 4th OF.

 

Only other ways this makes sense is if they trade Varsho or have him make more starts at Catcher

We didn't sign KK for 10.5M to be Varsho's backup. Of course longterm Varsho is the answer but for 2024, KK was probably promised to be our starting CF again.

Ok, so our outfield is very Solid right now.Biggio can play a Valiant CF as well. Would really like to see IKF here, for something like 3/33 he's such a swiss army knife and cuts up opponents with his skillset. Could plug him into 3b right now but I'd play him 3b/SS/CF or corners. Sick late inning runner and defensive replacement at the least.

The move is one of those ones that makes sense and doesn’t make sense at the same time. There’s no doubt adding KK to the current roster makes the team better overall, but at the same time….not by a whole lot.

 

The overall optics of this signing won’t really be clear until the solutions are for LF and 3b are known.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we go for a corner OF with poor D like Soler or Hernandez to play a bit of OF and it lets Springer get more rest days.

 

Either way out OF is improved on Lukes being our starting LF as of yesterday.

Ok there's a lot of slop in this post but IKF could be a fit. And it wouldn't take 3/33 either.

 

I think his value tanked last year because the Yankees played him mostly in the OF. His defense there was ok but his bat doesn't play there at all. Play him mostly at 3B (where he is awesome) or SS (where he ranges from great to passable depending on the metric) and I think he's a 1.5 WAR guy or so.

Satisfied would have been Soto, ohtani, maybe j-ram and maybe an extra pitcher. Basically the dodgers off season would be satisfactory if we got all the players they did for 100m less.

It's a one year deal and it's likely due to a lack of options. I don't feel bad about it, as i said, I really enjoyed watching him.

 

Hopefully they have an actual LF bat still coming and KK ends up with ~300 ABs similar to last year with some stellar D.

There's still a lot of room on the 40-man. KK gives them 38, so still two spots open. But a lot of dead weight:

 

Otto Lopez sucks and is out of options

Espinal probably isn't worth his projected 2.5M arb salary

Mitch White basically lost all value now that he's out of options

That could work, especially if he plays mostly 3B which he would be projected to do.

 

He's got about 1200 innings at 3B in his career. That's about 130 games worth, so basically what he would get if he were the mostly full time starter there.

 

In that span, here are his defensive numbers:

 

DRS-19

UZR-6.7

OAA- 22

RAA- 16

 

Those are prime Matt Chapman numbers

Agreed... I'm thinking we finish the offseason with Teo to split OF/DH duties and Chapman. Not sure if the overall fanbase will be happy with the same team as last year but switching Belt for a Teo like player.
