Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 (edited) This will be great for 2024 hopefully but I don't trust people longterm that make it seem like such an effort to remain in shape. While i love Vladdy, guys like that don't deserve 10 year deals even if he puts up his 2021 numbers. Also, is he wearing his shorts backwards? Lol Edited December 17, 2023 by Jays24

Then the team starts traveling and clubhouse buffets, stop over at Abuelas house etc…. I do think if he goes into camp like that, he should have a strong start of the season with the bat.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 That's good and all, but what can he do to fix his peanut brain low baseball IQ?
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 It'll be funny if he has a strong year. After all of the discussions on swing and launch angle... it would prove that the entire story was fitness.

Scion Verified Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Where are you seeing this? In Bob Nightingale's latest article there is a blurb at the bottom that says the Jays have emerged as the frontrunners for Bellinger, but that the Cubs are still in the mix.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 He looks great! Have to admit that. Here’s hoping

Disaster waiting to happen. The Cubs have a pile of money to spend, holes at the two positions Bellinger plays, and just had him for an entire session. I don’t want to be the team outbidding them for him.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Sounds like we got bellinger. Hoping for under 10/300 Haha 10/300. 6/150 is the ideal contract but he might be able to squeeze 7/175 from a desperate team. Makes you wish you just spent that on Semien in hindsight then lol.

It sounds like the team was willing to spend the necessary money for Semien but he simply chose the Rangers offer for reasons beyond the team's control.

Pretty sure he went there because Texas offered the extra year, which we weren't willing to. And honestly, most thought the Rangers overpaid for both Semien and Seager but it clearly worked out for them.

We saw similar pictures this time last year… Christmas chocolates came to the Guerrero house and last Feb he reported to Spring training and did not look like this!!! Keep you hopes up high but don’t be surprised if he does not look like the Feb 01 😞.

This is also his first offseason exclusively training in Florida as well.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Vlads looking for a big payday. I'd be more impressive if he was in this type of shape AFTER he signed his contract.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/cody-bellinger-reportedly-seeking-200mm-or-more-in-free-agency.html So time to shift our attention to Teo, Chapman and the best DH on the market? Rather spend there than get suckered into a 200M deal for a wildly inconsistent player that I'd love only on a cheaper deal. Springer Bo Vlad Solar Teo Kirk/Jansen Varsho Chapman Biggio/Schneider Back to being stupidly right handed heavy but I'd rather have a bunch of good right handed hitters than crappier lefties just to have balance.
Stottlemyres_Bloody_Chin Verified Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Forget Bellinger. Trade for Yelich, who is owed 5 x 26 mill. Milwaukee would probably eat 30 mill, bringing him down to 5 years 100 million. We toss them a C prospect. Or we get them to attach Burnes and we assume the entire contract. His career low OPS is .736, so he has a much higher floor than Bellinger. No crazy 10 year committment.

Don't kid yourself you'd still find a reason to complain. You aren't happy that Vlad shares pictures of him in the gym because according to your infinite wisdom only people that don't regularly work out do this. Now the guy very well may actually be in the best shape of his entire life and you still aren't happy. FFS.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Some of the posters who were *******s to me for expressing pessimism about our front office in the past are hopefully starting to come to the realization that they've been sold a s*** sandwich. If not, well then hey I hear there's an orange guy in a whole lot of legal trouble south of the border who could use some money for his defense fund, I'm sure you've already donated though but that doesn't mean you can't donate again! Let's get real for a minute. Despite what you think, Atkins f***s up. A lot. -f***ed up on the Morales contract. -f***ed up on the Roark contract. -f***ed up the Jaime Garcia contract. -Gambled and lost on Yates, despite concerning medical reports on him. -f***ed up by giving Randall that contract extension. Those that raised the alarm were attacked by the *******s. -Traded Happ for Billy McKinney and Brandon Drury. -Traded Stroman for Kay and SWR, the Mets 4th and 6th ranked prospects at that time. Stroman had a sub 3.00 era pitching in the AL East at the time. -f***ed up the Donaldson situation. -Overpaid Kikuchi as a free agent. -Can't build a shutdown bullpen. -f***ed up the Mitch White/Frasso trade. A few of us voiced alarm but we're shouted down by the *******s. -f***ed up the Varsho trade. A few of us voiced alarm but we're shouted down by the *******s. -f***ed up the Anthony Bass situation. Turned it into a PR nightmare. And that's all just off the top of my head. There's more. The drafting and development is a joke, especially after the way they threw AA under the bus for supposedly stripping the farm bare. At least AA could f***ing build a good farm system, and quickly. He was able to sell the farm for the 2013 makeover, and then able to build it back up again in time to acquire Tulo & Price in 2015. And at least his playoff teams were built to win a playoff game. This FO preached building a sustainable winner that would be keyed around having a steady pipeline of prospects and then resigning them. Well 8 years in and the farm system blows, we have a luxury tax payroll that is by far the highest team payroll ever, yet we don't have any homegrown talent signed long term. We've had to consistently bring in FA talent from outside the organization because we can't develop talent. This is exactly the s*** they said they wouldn't have to do! When Atlanta won it's first division title under AA the *******s here talked about how he was gifted a great team and didn't want to give him any credit. Well the Braves are on the way to be a perfect 6/6 in winning division titles under his watch, and they won a world series. And their future looks extremely bright still! How many times do Spanky and gang have to be wrong before they eat some f***ing crow? Instead you bully and belittle people who don't agree that our team has been run poorly since AA was driven out by Shapiro. Even in the dark days of the late 90s and early 2000s, at least we had Delgado and Halladay who were a pleasure to watch. This team is annoying as hell to watch. Baltimore has passed us like we're standing still despite a payroll that is less than 1/3 of ours. The team needs a rebuild, and this front office better have nothing to do with it. I've been a die hard fan since 1988 and always will be a Blue Jays fan only, but I think I feel worse about this team's future than I ever have. /End rant. I won't be posting here anymore as I'm going to try and take a step back. I've spend too much of my free time on this team. Too many wasted nights. I'm not going to renew my season tickets next year either. I'll pop by from time to time to read the remaining *******s' rainbow and sunshine posts whenever I need a good laugh. Hopefully some of you come around on this and start to shout down the remaining *******s but I'm not wasting anymore of my time on them. Enjoy the taste of s*** *******s, especially you Spanx. There's a massive sandwich filled with s*** with your name on it bud. You're a troll, always have been, always will be. If you stayed with me through to the end of this post you know I'm not all wrong. Forget Bellinger. Trade for Yelich, who is owed 5 x 26 mill. Milwaukee would probably eat 30 mill, bringing him down to 5 years 100 million. We toss them a C prospect. Or we get them to attach Burnes and we assume the entire contract.
