I hate remembering how much of a post season stud Springer was in Houston while for the Jays he has a total of 4 singles in two post season Wildcard series

You didn't know I'm a Vlad hater?

Yes I did. It’s the language that makes your arguments sound weak

I have the tendency to be very hyperbolic. Sherminator thought I was pissed at him yesterday when in reality I just overuse hyperbole.

Shapiro might be part of the problem, sadly. He’s great at certain things (getting Rogers to spend, mostly) but the Jays as an org needed new leadership and he didn’t feel that was necessary despite all the stuff going on. Not a good look on him, IMO.

I figured they’d get rid of the hitting coaches and keep everyone else. Maybe that will end up working out positively for 2024, who knows, but still disappointing.

Vlad and Bo (not arb but still) increases alone will be close to or more than 15 million.

Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt are making a combined 8 million more next year than this. chad Green's option is a nearly 7 million dollar raise

The Vlad and Bo increases as well as Green's option are all good points.

But since the Jays are a tax or near tax team, I don't think they are concerned about the increases for Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt. For tax purposes, all contracts use the average annual value.

So for example if Gausman signed a 5 year, 125 million dollar deal and it pays out at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, each year it counts as just 25 million against their tax thresshold every single year.

Rivera's "retirement" could be the harbinger of positive change. Getting rid of Martinez/Hudgins would be warranted and seems likely to happen. If the Jays can't find an brand name hitting coach perhaps Hunter Mense should be given the lead job. New blood will hopefully reinvigorate this franchise and perhaps smooth over the antics of this past two weeks. Hope abounds.

Everything wrong with the offense's collective approach this season smells like Don Mattingly.

Falling behind in the arms race so they hire a dinosaur? Makes no sense.

Just be happy we didn't have Tony Larussa sitting in the dugout whispering sweet nothings in Schneider's ear.

Also, everyone stop bringing up Dante Bichette as hitting coach. You think Bo wants the guy who threw him and his brother into a wall around? Nah, f*** off with that s***.

Bo gave his blessing the last time Dante was coaching us but I agree regardless. We have no clue who is a good hitting coach or not. Fans always go for old players because it's who they know but there is no way of knowing if they are actually good at coaching or not.

Why did they hire him the first time then?

I will throw out a name here that I think the Jays should pursue as bench coach. Someone who has presence and knows the game. Someone who commands respect from players throughout the league. Someone who played the game at a high level. Someone who can say to Vladdy wtf are you doing. Someone who won't bend the knee whenever Atkins calls down to the clubhouse.

CARLOS BELTRAN.

"When evaluating, you're not evaluating on a series or even a season. And in Ross's case, the body of work, to me, is undeniable," Shapiro said. "There's over eight seasons — whether it's the last four having the sixth-best record in the American League, whether it's three of the last four years in the post-season, building out great resources, hiring a great leadership team that's been successful, both internationally and domestically."

"We need to get better," continued Shapiro. "Ross needs to get better but he's done a good job and put us in a good position next year to be a very good team and certainly deserves that opportunity to continue to lead the baseball organization."

Atkins signed a five-year contract extension in 2021 that expires after the 2026 season.

Not sure why anyone expected anything different. The voice of the fans never matters.

But hey at least there's larger 100 level seats incoming.

I'm 0% surprised about Atkins

I'm maybe 20-30% surprised that Schneider is staying

Vladdy’s best season came with Dante on the bench

Jays 2nd in wRC+ only trailing the Astros

Led the league in HR’s

Pretty sure they can find a seat for him in the dugout

Yep. Anyone who thought they were gonna can Atkins after letting him do the post mortem presser are in a dream world. As I said before, as long as the team is competitive enough to compete for a playoff spot and keep the P/L in the black, Rogers Corp will be happy.

Totally. Thought maybe SOMEONE would be held accountable besides the actual players.

The reddit backlash would be too strong, they've basically labelled him as a murderer at this point.

So what is this about?

There hasn't been this much dysfunction around the Jays since the days of Gibby fighting Shea Hillenbrand
