Also, he did not.

Yeah, saying you’re willing to waive the no trade clause for the right move isn’t the same thing as asking for a trade

Hope he’s right!

Hope he's right about what? He didn't provide any insight into which of the 2 possibilities it was. He literally just said the same thing several on this board did.

It just requires some advanced reading comprehension. He started off with “probably” and went ahead and explained why it was a smaller deal. He then provided the alternative viewpoint

Just making sure you knew everyone isn’t a Sith dealing in absolutes. Don’t shoot the messenger

Here's a bit from Davidi and Schneider...

First outing, today, really in a game, game,” said manager John Schneider. “Yeah, you want the results to be great, but I think you're also really just focusing on things that he's been working on the last couple of weeks. Hopefully the next one you can kind of build a little bit of momentum. But just pleased with the stuff that he has been working on that he did in the game."

Those areas of focus include maintaining a delivery closer to the one he used the past two years, throwing strikes, pitching with tempo and increased velocity, which according to Schneider were “all positive.”

Another point of emphasis for Manoah is regaining the slider which was such a crucial weapon for him during his rapid ascent to stardom, and that remains a work in progress.

I’m rooting for Manoah and have always liked him, but without the plus slider he’s a backend guy

...not even, based on what we've seen.

It’s definitely implying you want one. Things like that only get out if the agent wants it out.

Well not the recent version. But if he can get some velo and control back, he could be on the backend. All his upside was tied to that slider though

Tough to stay in a ML rotation if all you have is a decent FB, with solid control. He has a changeup that he flashes as above average, but that can't be his 2nd pitch. Not having a reliable breaking pitch is not a good recipe for a starter. Can't even remember if he throws a curve, that's how sparsely he must use it, if it even exists.

That slider must be found for any future success to occur

Amigo, there’s room between a wipe out slider like he had and the slider he’s throwing that was getting destroyed.

Without a plus slider, he's a pen arm at best with a 4 seamer, sinker and a crappy changeup. absolutely needs a breaking ball to even be in the bigs IMO since his other pitches aren't good enough to stand on their own

I'm not sure he's even a pen arm without his wipeout slider. 94 MPH fastball with an average to below average change up sounds like AAA depth. Doesn't this team need more depth starters in the upper minors? Problem solved!

command is a big part of it too

in 2022 he was like, 50 FB 60 SL 50 command

in 2023 he is more like 40 FB 40 SL 30 command

50/50/50 is a recipe for a backend SP

50/60/40 might also be. or a recipe for a good RP.

Book smart, concede that. I can’t be remembering case law from 1964. You get the cake, amigo.

Just hope you don’t ever get put on the spot to come up with an original idea

You got that from Vickers, Work in Essex County, page 98, right?

Scott Mitchell says Manoah pitched around 290lbs last year and that he heard Manoah came into camp at 320lbs this year lmao

Buddy on MLB Network was right

That’s downright embarrassing for both him and the team. Do they not check in on these guys during the offseason? Especially the obese ones?

Look at these comparison pics. Seems like it's waaaay more than just 30ish pounds.

Manoah ate his way from Cy Young finalist to the Florida Complex League.

If they say he came into training camp at 320 it was likely more than 350 and they are saving him the embarrassment.

Nah, obviously he was pushing 400, probably 450
