How sad is this? That's probably the best case scenario right now. The real question is what will this FO do? Are we just going to do nothing and HOPE this best case scenario comes true? or will they start firing coaches/managers and trading losers now to try and change their own fate? My guess is they will do nothing and HOPE it works out. Unfortunately, HOPE isn't a f***ing strategy.

This team needs to figure out how to get some of their best players back to playing like their best players. If Chapman, Vlad and Manoah continue to struggle the way they have been this team is going nowhere.

I thought there was a strict ban on politics? So it's all ok now?

No one is sharing any political opinion would be the difference. The idea is not to take any stance on sausage snipping, simply only as it relates to the baseball situation

Sausage Snippers is the next great minor league baseball team name.

Can this political nonsense please not overshadow my tirade and then legitimate question about what people on this board would do with the team in it's current state? Thank you.

Agree on the former, they have to play better, you know, execute at their job.

seems baseball relevant to me

we literally just saw stupid social media smoke turn into a contributing factor of an MLB RP losing his job in a matter of weeks

if the Reddit losers are digging this up now then it's at least plausible that Hudgens' time with the Blue Jays will soon be over

If August 1st is the trade deadline. How many games back do we have to be to turn the Jays into sellers?

I say anything double digits (10 games or more going into the last week of July) then we move Chapman, Belt, and Keirmaier. It is the prudent thing to do.

The won't sell unless they're like 5 games under 0.500. Which they won't be.

Yeah I know, but work with me on this.

10 games back in the last week of July? They'd better be selling, I don't see that happening at all, though.

It won't happen, but I think trading Kiermaier makes sense regardless. He's almost certainly going to decline offensively the rest of the way, and Varsho's value to the team is severely diminished as a LF where his bat isn't quite good enough. Trade KK, trade for a stop gap LF who has a better offensive profile, and put Varsho in CF. That type of move works whether they are buyers or sellers. Of course there needs to be a LF available that makes sense. Maybe they could steal Tyler O'Neill for little (assuming he comes back) and take a chance with him.

But to answer your question, it would have to be a significant amount of games back for the Jays to be sellers. Atkins has no reason to sell given that he doesn't/shouldn't have job security, and the team is going to prioritize asses in seats with all their stadium renovations. They'll be buyers unless the bottom falls out in the next month.

Chapman will get you a decent return. Let's face it, we're not going to pony up the $$$ he and Boras are going to ask for.

Maybe, but that ask is getting lower and lower by the week the way he's been hitting.

LOL i think The Yankees Fans may think he is serious

What do we think the chances of Manoah coming back as a legit Top 3 starter this year are? 15%?

Chapman is what he is I think. He's the same guy he was last year.

It's pretty hard to see Vlad reaching a 140 wRC+ by the end of the year. Probably more likely to fall into the 120-130 range. Is that good enough? Probably not.

BREAKING NEWS: Boomer-aged coach has boomer political views

That isn't meant as a slight to anyone who says this could lead to something because it certainly could. But I really hope it doesn't. I do not want the Jays to be the only team to remove a player and coach over political/culture war views. There's a lot of players and coaches who agree with these guys and it wouldn't be ideal to be the one team seen as punishing these people.

Yeah you make a good point. I bet a majority of baseball players and coaches agree with these guys. More than other leagues for sure.

I don't think the Jays will be 10 games back of the third WC spot.

Hopefully they're in one of the WC spots come trade deadline and this team adds to make some upgrades.

10 games out of 1st place in the AL East or 10 games out of the WC spot? Surely to god we don't need to be 10 games out of a WC spot to start selling...I fully agree with the suggestion we sell KK regardless, if we can add a solid LFer with some years of control.

Manoah was an ace last season. He's too young and too good to be this awful. He's coming back as the Jays No. 1 starter in no time.

Chapman is going to get a $200M contract this offseason. He's a former 6 WAR player.

Vladdy will reach a 150 wRC+ by the end of the season. He's one of the best young talented hitters in the game and is only two years removed from his 2021 season. Jays better lock him up now for $300 million!

This is one of the best FO's in baseball. Ross Atkins is a genius and will turn this ship around. The Jays have a winning record under John Schneider, so why would they fire him? This FO put together a World Series contender and they're going to start playing like one at some point! It's still early so a lot of time to turn things around. It's only the first day of summer and we have 3+ months of baseball left to played. With a super easy schedule the rest of the way, this Blue Jays team will make up some ground and win the division.

Oh give it a rest already. Vlad isn't the 70 WRC+ or whatever the hell he's done since May, Chapman isn't the kind of bat he's shown from the start of May and Manoah isn't baseball's worst starter. I guess I should just go ahead and put you on my ignore list since you are quite possibly even more irritating than the mouth breathers who sign up just to stir up s***.

I'm busting his chops geez.

Manoah likely will come back as a No. 3 starter at some point when he figures things out, whether its later this season or next.

I know Vlad isn't this bad and still has time to turn it around at 24. Hopefully he starts to hit for more pop or else he's just a Lyle Overbay/James Loney type of bat.

Chapman is a solid player and likely will get a contract close to $200 million as a free agent. He should still be good for 4-5 WAR this season.

I'm not miserable at all FFS! I'm being a realist. I can't believe you guys get so worked up and pissy when someone criticizes this team. You and Brownie are two of the biggest homers out there!

This guy is quite possibly the most annoying poster on this forum now.

Lmao look at whose talking, the guy who cherry picks every stat! Blue Jays against non Boston or Baltimore teams have this record and against sub. 500 teams have a .700 winning percentage. Kirk for two weeks in May has a 120 wRC!

You're the biggest Cherry Picker on this board and your posts are laughable! Keep sipping the Wilner kool aid!
