wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 When is Bo's arb hearing?? They are taking place Jan 30th - Feb 17th. I'm not sure if they release the days for each player/team.

Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I am actually not so sure anymore that the Blue Jays will win the Bo hearing. Miami's lost two despite proposing the 'projected' arbitration number for their side.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 This guy is mildly interesting as far as AAA depth Catchers go. Great walk rates in the minors. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/james-ritchie/sa829058/stats?position=C

jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 100% "listen Alek, I respect you but maybe if you mixed in a bit more cardio the projections would be better" and then just say okay little man to Stroman "You're only calling me little man because you're a white supremacist" Stroman is sickening
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Imagine risking injury for team Italy
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Looks like he would be a great option for AAA depth. No idea what his defense is like, but a Steamer projected .327 OBP will play for the 4th or 5th C.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Imagine risking injury for team Italy Can’t close games if your team is never ahead
BCZ Verified Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Romano - talks about crazy conspiracy theories first 3-4 innings most games I'll pay $ to get a list of these. Also wondering if he's smoking ganga pre-game and that's triggering the abundance of conspiracy's for first 3-4 innings.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Can’t close games if your team is never ahead I read somewhere that team was going to be solid. Lets hope this is just precautionary.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Bit tired of this Manoah stuff online. We mostly all loved Stro in '15 when he was beaking off coming back from injury, until we didn't. It just got to be too much and then his performance waned as well. Manoah attracts a lot of attention. I like the guy and his arm but I'm not sure he is he/we think he is. The notion by some that he is "big and strong" means he is durable is ridiculous to me. Pearson is also "big and strong". With the shift changes and the stuff will we see some regression? I have a novice understanding of his pitching analytics but I'd be curious what others think about his upside/downside??
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 He probably got lucky in 2022 and did not display #1 skills. Expect #2/3 production but be pleased if there is some sneaky reason he has for run prevention that gets proven over time
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Just a reminder Italy beat Canada at the WBC in 2009.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I read somewhere that team was going to be solid. Lets hope this is just precautionary. As of Jan 26th: Brandon Nimmo Trey Mancini David Fletcher Vinnie Pasquantino Max Stassi Nicky Lopez Dan Castano Andre Ballente Jordan Roman Matt Festa They need some pitching. Maybe Jake Ordorizzi, Adam Ottavino join haha. Lineup wise, they're not too bad. Maybe Anthony Rizzo commits again. Michael Comforto but probably not coming off his injuries. In a short tournament, anything can happen. But yah they're no DR, Venezuela, USA or Japan roster wise that's for sure.

Unless his K% returns to 2021 levels, he's going to get BABIP'd this season and give up more HRs. Not enough swing and miss. I think Gausman, on the other hand, will have his best season yet.

I’m not looking at the nerd stats like barrel rate but from the eye test, it didn’t seem like teams made a lot of hard contact. More than anything, when his control struggled, he was off. It’s reasonable to hope for the K rate to go up. I’m not sure he’ll repeat that ERA but I wouldn’t bet against under 3. I wouldn’t bet it either but still

I wouldn’t bet it either but still 🤞Let's hope so! I'm considering the shift removal and thinking more ground balls, hard or soft, will squeak through. Anything in the air though, if it's within the dimensions, our OF will catch it or hold runners to singles, so that will definitely have an impact. I think Berrios and White will benefit a ton from that.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Manoah likely is a #2/3 moving forward. Nothing wrong with that. I don't see him as a true No. 1 starter or ace. I do see him regressing a bit in 2023. Wouldn't surprise me if his ERA is in the higher 3's or low 4's. I'll make a bold prediction and say Berrios has a higher WAR in 2023. Gausman is Toronto's best pitcher.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 I think if Manoah goes backwards, it’ll be because his BB rate goes back to 2021 level. We’ll see

Gausman’s K numbers are godly and he had extremely bad babip luck in 2022.
