Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 (edited) Vlad jr just signed for 14.5 m to avoid an arb hearing. He was Arb 2 and is a Super 2. Others that are/were arb eligible: Arb 2- Jansen, Richards, Bo, Mayza, Biggio. Arb 3 - Cimber Arb 1 - Romano, Varsho, Espinal, Swanson and Thornton. Espy, Varsho and Biggio are all Super 2s as well. If someone else can reply and fill in who has signed, that would be super too. In the latest roster moves section on Roster Resource... https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/blue-jays Oh, no dollar amount, my bad. Edited January 14, 2023 by Spanky99

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Swanson agrees to $1.25m, and Bichette (somewhat predictably) is going to an arbitration hearing.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Love that we have Varsho for 4 years Vs Reynolds for 2
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Bichette is going to be omni-difficult
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Well, given that Bo's feelings are hurt anyways, it is time to move him to 2B.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Bichette is going to be omni-difficult Well, given that Bo's feelings are hurt anyways, it is time to move him to 2B. Because he's going to Arb? lol... Nah.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Because he's going to Arb? lol... Nah. Yeah No over a few hundred k
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Only the Rays have more arbitration eligible players than we do
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Bichette is going to be omni-difficult I don't think anyone will be surprised when Bo does not sign an extension unless the Jays Max/Overpay him. I get the feeling when he has his own season review he only watches his highlights.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Only the Rays have more arbitration eligible players than we do That means we are doing it right, right?
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Because he's going to Arb? lol... Nah. I do not if you know or remember this. Last year the jays wanted to pay him a little more than league minimum and he thought it was insulting. He has a stick up his ass when it comes to money.
Ray Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 That’s a very very wide spread for Arb1.

Last year the jays wanted to pay him a little more than league minimum and he thought it was insulting. He has a stick up his ass when it comes to money. Yes I do, and I also remember him saying he wants to be the highest paid player in baseball. This has always been in his DNA... he's a competitor and believes in himself. If he continues to rake he's going to be very expensive regardless.
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Yes I do, and I also remember him saying he wants to be the highest paid player in baseball. This has always been in his DNA... he's a competitor and believes in himself. If he continues to rake he's going to be very expensive regardless. There is a difference between believing in himself and being delusional. He is a very good player but nowhere near warranting the highest contract in baseball. I will cheer for him to achieve a level that deserves the biggest contract, but he is more likely to get there as a 2B.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Bichette @ 7.5 million is a shot across the bow for the Jays and MLB. He made $700k last year and files for $7.5 million? He isn't eligible for free agency for a while but I wonder if him and his camp aren't considering pushing the system ala Nylander a few years ago. Him and his camp seem like they come from the type of background to test the boundaries of the MLB arb situation. With teams saying f*** you to the luxury cap, there will (and should) be players saying why the f*** am I making s*** money while lesser players are getting paid?

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 This is an interesting read on Bo's massive decline in BSR this past season... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-bo-bichettes-wheels-fell-off-in-2022/
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Bichette sure thinks highly of himself. Like I've been saying, guy is walking the second he can. Guy sucked for 90% of the season, has a good September and now thinks he's the Franchise again. I've seen this movie too many times, I know how it ends. Trade this fool while his name still has value and we'd be way better off.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Yes I do, and I also remember him saying he wants to be the highest paid player in baseball. This has always been in his DNA... he's a competitor and believes in himself. If he continues to rake he's going to be very expensive regardless. I saw we trade him off while we can. He's annoying and ungrateful. Unload him.

RobinThicc Verified Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Pretty clear the team and Bo's camp are not even close to being on the same page when it comes to his value, which definitely doesnt bode well for a longterm extension
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Because he's going to Arb? lol... Nah. Because this is the second season in a row where we haven't really seen eye to eye
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Yes I do, and I also remember him saying he wants to be the highest paid player in baseball. And based on this information you don't see why he's going to be Omni-difficult?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Not happening. Unfortunately you're right. He'll walk and all we'll get is a draft pick.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 This is an interesting read on Bo's massive decline in BSR this past season... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/why-bo-bichettes-wheels-fell-off-in-2022/ This does not seem to be a stat that will stabalize very quickly, and the article seems to go out of its way to point out that running stats are essentially useless in a single season.
