BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Minters pretty solid but Bummer can knockout some hitters im thinking. Gives me Andrew Miller vibes... Bummer kind of like Ray before he got fixed. Wicked stuff - high K and BB rates. Who knows if they can "fix" him. Shame about Soroka. Works out with my son at Webber Baseball Academy in Calgary a lot this time of year. Super nice guy. He just never has recovered from Achilles yet with 2 set backs, and the body over compensated giving him some arm issues. 6.56 FIP in 2023. Braves gave up on him and with him being a FA in '25 they got what they could I guess.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Way to quick man. Wait, so it's too quick to give up on Soroka, but you want the Jays to trade Manoah this offseason? I'm confused dawg!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 I'll take the win here Have a nice weekend You do hold a grudge against AA and his FO when he was here with the Jays. I wonder why... Have a nice weekend as well! Hope you're enjoying your victory lap!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Can’t wait to see where anyone said there was a huge list! All I stated was that every team in baseball at some point runs assets into the ground and never trade them at the opportune time. AA has for sure, and never denied that. To say he's the only GM who runs assets into the ground, give me a break. Like I said if he does it "spectacularly and at volume" like Laika said, give me a list of those instances when he was with the Braves. You actually were becoming one of my favourite posters on this board who actually is rational in comparison to some of the shills on here. Don't know what I said that was so controversial but alright! Cheers!
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Watch the Brewers swoop in and land Soto. Makes a lot of sense..

You continually look to pick arguments with anyone who is willing to engage Nobody said AA was the only GM who “runs assets into the ground” literally nobody. The reason your arguments fall apart is because you put words in other people’s mouth in order to form your point
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 It needs to be stated again, everyone has their own idea what a good GM is. To the nerds, you need to sell high on any over performing asset to come out ahead on future WAR/$. Some teams, especially big market and super successful teams, may not be as concerned with this. They’re winning now (and not just Bluejay “winning”), and maybe less willing to trade for a future who won’t help now and may never help later. Every team gets a boatload of picks every year to try to restock their farm.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Are you okay? If it was too early to trade Soroka, same applies to Manoah this offseason then according to you.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Manoah has a lot of value, good time to move him
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 If it was too early to trade Soroka, same applies to Manoah this offseason then according to you. What are you on about this time? Manoah had a single bad season in his professional career and is a single season removed from receiving Cy Young award votes. Soroka has pitched 45 innings COMBINED in the last 4 seasons. If Manoah shits the bed for another 3 full seasons then he'll be a great comparable, for now it's nowhere remotely close to the same situation.

The reason your arguments fall apart is because you put words in other people’s mouth in order to form your point Not looking to pick arguments with anyone and I don't put words in other people's mouth. All I pointed out was Atlanta's reasoning behind those moves. You then got all triggered when I said it wouldn't have been a bad idea for the Braves to keep Nicky Lopez if they could have as a backup middle infielder. You were the one who actually picked an argument.

Spanky just said it was too early to trade Soroka after not being healthy since 2019. I used Manoah as an example if he s*** the bed in 2024, and if Atkins traded him for pennies after or non-tendered him that would be asset mismanagement according to Spanky and Laika. I have no problem with the Jays giving Manoah another chance in 2024. No different than the Braves hoping Soroka could stay healthy and rebound after his surgeries. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Though Spanky said he was in favour to trade Manoah now before that happens.

I never brought a book home from 6-12 grades. Always scraped by in hs and college on exam scores and papers. Took a lot of 0s for assignments I never did. The school is for my kid though d-bag

On a semi related note my brother in-law sends both his kids to a pricey private school which costs over $20k a year per kid for grade school. That's a lot of dough by the time the kids are both finished school.
