Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Jays pitching is basically the same as Philly How dare you
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I never liked the 2-3-2 format. Really puts the lower seat in the drivers seat if they steal a game on the road.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 (edited) Jays pitching is basically the same as Philly Hmm. Interesting. SP agreed. How do you rate the pens comparatively? Alvarado (this version - 14/9 K%) and Dominguez along with Robertson is a better high leverage trio than we have - lets say thats Romano, Yimi and Bass? Depth wise '22 Hand is not really in the PHI circle of trust, but his FIP is the same as Mayza this season, and a better fWAR. Yet, Schneider pulls Gausman to go to Mayza turning Santanna around. I can't see Thompson doing the same with Hand in similar spot. Edited October 30, 2022 by BigCecil

That’s more the reason he isn’t using Hand anymore. PHI is luck he didn’t cost them the series

Toronto has better middle relief for sure and I think the better closer hands down

But that slider and FB from the left side is pretty elite when he is finding the zone. He and Seranthony are throwing well now. Robertson is over rated.

Yup and thats all it takes sometimes for a team to go far/win it all. See: Washington 2019, Cleveland 2016, Atlanta 2021… etc Could have been us. Our guys all absolutely crapped the bed though.

Yeah since coming back he has been the best in the pen other than Dominguez

Toronto has better middle relief for sure and I think the better closer hands down Alvardo posted a 1.7 WAR with a 14.29 K/9 this season. When he was with Tampa, looked like he was one of the top young relievers coming up. He's no slouch. He's elite when he's on. Robertson is a bit wild agreed but high K rate has helped him. Seranthony Dominguez is very good. 27-years-old, 3.09 FIP, 10.76 K/9, 1.0 WAR this season. On a whole different level in the Postseason: 17.36 K/9. Andrew Bellatti had a solid year: 2.87 FIP, 12.92 K/9, 1.0 WAR. Connor Brogdon is also pretty good. Phillies relievers have higher K rates and we've seen that be successful in the Postseason. Jays have the closer advantage in Romano. No debate there. In terms of the rest of the bullpen, Phillies have higher K arms so I give them the advantage over the Jays in that regard. While close, stats even show Phillies BP was better than the Jays in 2022.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 This game is very possibly going to be cancelled/postponed. MLB saying they will push the whole schedule by a day if today is rained out (off day Friday) Could be a big break for the Phillies. f*** this weather
philly30 Verified Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Not looking good fro a game tonight but definitely helps phillies
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Not looking good fro a game tonight but definitely helps phillies Its really s***** that MLB keeps doing this, they wait til the last second to cancel. Its an hour til game time and still 0 news. f***ing scumbags delaying so they can make money off concessions
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 Aaaaaaaand it’s canceled. Shocker. f*** MLB, I feel bad for Philly fans at the game

Thomson just said looking at the radar he knew it would get worse, disgraceful, I bet people that paid for parking are not getting the money back
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 I don’t think this series is going back to Houston. This is prime set up for Philly having 3 straight home games. Just a completely different atmosphere
