Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Kill the ball more. Crank the humidors for 2023 Judge's home run pace picked up a lot in the second half. My theory is that reactionary dipshit supreme Rob Manfred saw people complaining about the ball dying and did another stealth change. I have done very minimal research into this. 45 game power Willy Adames ruins my theory at first glance as he's been basically unaffected and idk how to look up FB distance splits for the league. But my point stands because I will never admit being wrong and I might not be
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 Do you have Mike Piazza confused with somebody else? Piazza was like a 50th round 2000th overall draft pick who worked out. He hit great as a Rookie in 1993, like .320 with 35 homers, and the rest of his career made perfect sense, peaking at age 27, then slowly declining. His age 36-38 seasons were pretty unremarkable, maybe even disappointing for a player who was so great from age 24-33. Now could he have been a roider from the beginning? Like maybe picked 5000th overall and had to roid to keep up the whole time? I don't know. No way he was a late career roider only though. He's talking about Tony Gwynn dude?

This season's baseballs look to be significantly more consistent compared to the previously data that is available. Nothing here suggests any kind of tomfoolery from MLB beyond excessively deadening this year's baseballs in the first place. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/drag-dashboard#:~:text=The%20distributions%20of%20drag%20coefficient,2020%20and%200.02584%20in%202021).
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 More home runs might just be the result of a dilution of pitcher quality, mainly due to injuries, while the hitters are stronger and generating higher exit velocities. Meanwhile the parks are more or less the same. IMO.

Or is he the same s***** guy as last year and there’s more s***** guys like him playing

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 I mean Chapman is like Biggio really. Basically same hitter, D is probably a little better than numbers. Nothing deserving of a mea culpa there. DJ a different story. I used to like him and there was just a lot of black hole sucking. Hopefully he sustains the good play

Laika Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Looked like some dude fell over the railing trying to nab it. It did not look like the ball landed near him either. I think he jumped down in case the ball landed just shy of the stands
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I think he jumped down in case the ball landed just shy of the stands Yeah, and he couldn't keep the ball, regardless. He was banned from the premise, lol

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 $300? For a shot at $5m not a bad toss away
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 $300? For a shot at $5m not a bad toss away Pretty good odds too, in comparison. I mean, it isn't even remotely close to a lottery.
