Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 lol AA continues the trend: baby-faced HS pitcher x 3
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Think Brock Porter goes to Texas in the 4th round. They took Rocker at 3 and don't pick again until the 4th round. They can and will go well overslot
jaysfaithful8 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 And Tucker Toman goes to the Jays.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Cade Doughty... Would've liked pitching lol
Dagagad Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Probably the kiss of death but on the face of it a very interesting draft with upside.
John Balkabella Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Doughty ever plays an inning at the MLB level. Johnny Hekker pick.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Considering Tucker Toman was projected to us multiple times at #23. Getting him in the 70’s feels pretty good. Couple high end high school kids. And 2 middle infielders with an advanced approach for hitting. Expecting a lot of College Pitching the rest of the way.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I am so hyped for Barriera especially with the success we've had in A ball this year for pitching development. Love that they pulled the trigger on him.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Absolutely in love with Tomans swing. Geezus. Already really like this draft. Two first round, high end prospects in Toman and Barriera. Some safe college picks mixed in there, but they have some intriguing aspects. Thanks Robbie Ray and Marcus Semien!
Ray Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 The sound his BP makes compared to other HS kids is just different:
Blazeit420 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Doughty ever plays an inning at the MLB level. Johnny Hekker pick. Strange thing to say considering he was ranked 55 by MLB, 48 by Fangraphs.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 lol he wanted to go to college rather than play for any other baseball team. Come on down Toman.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Cade Doughty... Would've liked pitching lol Doughty ever plays an inning at the MLB level. Johnny Hekker pick. Just came back and checked, I love the Doughty pick. I heard about him a few months back and was being considered a mid to late 1st round talent. Advanced swing mechanics with solid feel for hitting, growing into more power. He had 15 HR and 34 xBH in 59 games this season. More likely 3B/2B but bat can play in those spots, solid pickup for 78. The Jays did very well on day 1. Edited July 18, 2022 by BlueRocky
Dagagad Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Kasevich and Doughty almost seem a little too good to be considerably under slot.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Keith Law mentioned us along with the Mets for drafts he liked at the start of his draft round one recap. “I also like the Blue Jays’ draft quite a bit, even though they took a high school arm in the first round — which historical data does not support — because 1) they did take a really, really good high school arm and 2) they backed it up with three solid position players who have a chance to stay up the middle and have reasonable floors.“
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 It’s possible he was and they just didn’t update it. I bet he was also... 😉
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 So.. we drafted three middle infielders because Bo and Orelvis are getting traded in a package for Soto right?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 So.. we drafted three middle infielders because Bo and Orelvis are getting traded in a package for Soto right? No… we drafted them because the front office thought they were the best players available You don’t draft based on what the major league roster needs
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 No… we drafted them because the front office thought they were the best players available You don’t draft based on what the major league roster needs 100% right Pretty sure he was joking tho
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 100% right Pretty sure he was joking tho He was.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Not trading a top prospect package for Soto when he won't even accept a 440M contract extension
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 BTW do Soto and Vladdy have the same agent?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 BTW do Soto and Vladdy have the same agent? They do not no. Soto uses Boras.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 100% right Pretty sure he was joking tho You can never know lol. My bad
