5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Lol seriously, don't the Jays have any better depth in the minors than THIS? Rays just punching their s*** in
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Let Hatch throw a complete game 200 pitches
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Montoyo gave up after the 2nd inning
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Lol seriously, don't the Jays have any better depth in the minors than THIS? Rays just punching their s*** in I think they really like Hatch. After today I can’t really understand why
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Are they really gonna waste all the good arms now??
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 They bring in someone NOW?? Bullpen management almost as bad as the bullpen itself.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Tampa is going to make some serious ground up on the jays this series
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 This is extremely embarrassing to watch.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 I'm going to activate my one time pass and say that this front office SUCKS at trading for pitching and developing pitching. It's such a humungous weakness.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Tampa is going to make some serious ground up on the jays this series They can at most make up one game.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Red jerseys are officially cursed when worn outside Canada day
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 I seriously cannot remember the Jays ever having a game with this many lucky hits (and basically 1 actually solid hit). Do you guys chalk up every base-hit that isn't stung as being "luck"? It's kind of an odd way of thinking that I see pretty much exclusively on this forum. You look back in the history of baseball and there's guys who've made a career on bloop hits and weak contact. Not every hit needs to be scorched.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Man they really let Hatch take it up the hatch to save the pen arms. They why Kooch just needs to be a little better. It kind of sucks paying for a 5th SP, but if your options are what the Jays have tried to toss our last couple years, it’s worth it imo

Nobody ever sits here and says “Berrios is getting so lucky” when he’s having a good game where he doesn’t have a bunch of K’s… just stfu and know in the end it’ll all average out. Some games you get lucky where balls find gloves, others not

Not every hit needs to be scorched. Unless there's a massive defensive failure, every seeing eye single, or 75MPH bloop is absolutely, 100% luck. You cannot make a career out of weak contact (not in this day and age), that's simply not a thing that happens.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Genuine question, who actually does this s*** - what organization in professional sports still in the VERY MIX of a race just throws a game? Because its a double-header and we have more games down the stretch? What, do the Rays not care about their already depleted roster to put their best lineup out there every day? Like throw the f***ing game against Oakland, who gives a s***; just get your entire AAA roster to play on the MLB field for one day for fun - why throw a game to a DIVISION RIVAL?! They used Castillo for NO reason yesterday. Could've just burned Hatch yesterday and saved Casey & Castillo for today - both of whom were having excellent AAA and Castillo pitched well against Milwaukee whose offense is VERY comparable to Rays atm. Like who drew this s*** up and thought "yes this is gonna be a good idea"? Unreal, this just straight up pisses me off about this organization. If we miss a game to playoffs, this ******** right here. Bullpen construction, hitting with RISP, that's all whatever - hit/miss but this bs? Where they just straight up throwing/hoping for a miracle? f*** right off.

Well they had a plan for Hatch and Lawrence in the second game but when one of the top starters in baseball takes a liner off his leg that plan goes out the window. It's s*** pitching depth culminating with some bad injury luck today and the results are UGLY.

The Rays have an injury list a mile long and they are competitive almost every night. They also have the best front office in baseball.

I mean 12 games in AAA and he has looked garbage, how did they actually think this was a smart idea to give this guy even 1 inning in a contention year?

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 Hatch is garbage. No top team should be using him intentionally in any game Who would you have used instead? We have a playoff team but the pitching depth is garbage. I'm sure Atkins knows this and will address it at the deadline.

I'm sure Atkins knows this and will address it at the deadline. Again. You burn Hatch in the 9-2 game to go two innings, or f***ing just let Romo go two innings 'cause he pitches 83 mph fastballs. You set up the exact same gameplan but with Castillo/Casey - who have both looked much better in AAA and/or MLB. IF Casey was burned game 1, you do exactly what you do right now but then we put our best effort forward - like these choices are baffling as f***.

Don't get me wrong, I admire hard-hit contact as much as the next guy, but to dismiss every other hit as luck is oversimplifying things to an egregious degree.
