We know Vlady will start hitting soon, Teoscar too, but guys like Tapia, Chapman and Collins will never be good hitters, how do we end with guys like that, scouting needs to be better.

The Orioles scored more runs against the Rays than we did against the Reds in their respective 3-game sets.

Their pitching Suxxxxxxxxx... offence, not so much.

Collins hadn't played since last Sunday. Tapia is our 4th OF'er, but LGJ has been hampered with a hammy issue. Plus he's been garbage, the likes of LGJ/Teo/Chappy need to wake up like, yesterday.

Chapman is just as good a career hitter as Teoscar. They are very close lifetime. In fact Chapman is a bit better. overall, Teoscar better Both have flaws.

Teoscar has been better in 2020/21 but it's just as possible Chapman is the one who rebounds and has a good year. It's possible they both suck, it's possible they both turn it around.

Tapia and Collins are in a different class. Guys who have never done much and are below average hitters.

Maybe they'll wake up on September 1st just like last year so they make a mad dash for a playoff spot and miss it by 1 game again

No its not literally what he said...he said series win...I said a single win

Yeah, but our pitching staff are good, no need splitting hairs. Again, pitching deserves better, period. We all agree on that.

Fortunate to win the series implies are woeful offense ATM.

Stupid Narrative. They played about the same all season, except for a couple of weeks late August where they didn't hit.

The September "run" just had some of those high scoring games go the Jays way, I remember the Oakland series, the Baltimore series they just lucked out with a hit at the right time...

Last year was completely different with dumb-ass losses and bullpen woes, and then crazy comeback wins, but bats and starters looked about the same all year.

This is different s***, a 550 run scoring team, with several guys potentially losing a few hundred million of career earnings by redefining their career arc.

You think I'm kidding? Sure they won't be as bad as they have been... but after this year can you see Vlad and Bo being the 350 million dollar guys they looked like before the season? Can you see Teoscar being a 125 million guy?

Meh. Someone could defend the guys narrative by saying “different s***. Same results”

I totally agree with that too. Different s***, same results.

But a team that scores a lot and is blowing big leads has an obvious path to solve their issue... get some bullpen arms which can be acquired for mid level prospects.

What is the fix here? Two good left handed bats? How?

lol... yeah, it's not fun. With this pitching we should be up with the Yankees, yet I digress...

Most runs being scored on sac flies, ground outs and ground ball singles is not exactly fun or exciting to watch

Get Benitendi and Bell. They are both FA at the end of the year i believe, so it shouldn't cost much.

Just checked and the jays are under 90% playoff odds on fangraphs now for the first time since like February.

If they end up missing the playoffs Charlie has to be fired

If we are at or just above 500 at the allstar break, I believe Montoyo should be fired. No need to wait for the end of the season.

No way that’s gonna happen. Just gotta hope the pressure/expectations don’t sink the team this year.

They SHOULD be great, like top 5 team. This is frustrating to watch.

Well that is why not signing these two to huge long term contracts was smart. It’s good talent evaluation, in the sense that maybe there isn’t as much talent there as we are led to believe by the media.

At the beginning of the season I thought it was basically impossible for Montoyo to lose his job. I'm less certain now. Hopefully Atkins pulls the string.

Same could be said about anyone. Vernon Wells was signed to a mega-contract after his second good year, but with 2 sub-par ones in between.

Alex Rios was signed after a big year, then released during a down one. Both of which were deceptive. Adam Lind looked like the next Don Mattingly for 1 year... Aaron Hill like the next Ryne Sandberg for a year.

Pat Tabler said something smart the other day. He doesn't trust stats unless they do it twice in a row.

Good news is, barring undisclosed injuries or team-wide mental breakdown there is zero statistical possibility they are as bad as they've been so far. Best guess is guys will return to their career averages, which would at least be an improvement over what we've seen so far.

I no longer really believe the 2021 numbers were indicative of their true talent, but neither do I believe the 2022 numbers... career averages normalized to the current offensive is a good guess going forward.

Consistent off season proponent of adding at least 1 impact LHH to this line up. Don't agree that it doesn't matter "as long as the RHH bats are all good".

They tried to get Ramirez. Failed. Schwarber went for 4/8 0 PHI. Traded Rowdy (understandable at time given bullpen blood on the floor). It remains a glaring issue. We are just too easy to pitch to, virtually all one way. Will be very tough to fill the hole at this point in season materially. This had to have gotten done off season. Zimmer, Collins, Tapia is shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic.

The one saving grace here is that the extension they gave to Buntoyo was only through 2023. So they avoided having him be a lameduck, but didn't give him much security beyond this season. Hopefully that means they'd be open to pulling the trigger mid season if the team continues to struggle, but I've long prepared for Charlie to manage this team until the end of the time, so I have no expectations.

Fire Charlie and bring in a vet like Bobby Valentine as manager

LOL Or we could just throw a grenade into the dugout and achieve the same thing:cool:

lol. Yeah. I was surprised too.

He has also said the Jays have a lot of big strong guys so they should be OK in the long run.

You guys are high if you think Chuckles gets fired anytime soon. First bait will be the hitting coach.

Yeah nah I agree. Realistically, if they miss the postseason then maybe they can him. That SHOULD be the case. But I’m not even sure of that
