Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Kirk, Espinal, Tapia, Heinemen black hole. Montoyo f***, pinch runner for Kirk before Hein double
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Agreed, go oil. Lol. Most needy fanbase in all of sports. Need everyone to fellate McDavid at all times.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Hate to say it but Yankees look better than the jays Their pitching had been excellent so far
JuniorFelix54 Verified Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Chapman is a .210 hitter, the glove is really nice but it doesn't make up for .210. Kirk stinks, Zimmer has no business being in the majors, Tapia sucks and I'm not going to let it go about that horrible trade. .227 1 HR 4 rbis / Grichuk .338 3 HRs 14 RBIs

Its definitely not a trade a team makes thats looking to win the World Series this year.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Hot take but I agree with Montoyo's decision not to pinch run for Kirk. In the 7th with the runner only on 1st the marginal increase is run probability I think is less than what you lose by Zimmer or Capra hitting in the 9th instead of Kirk(I think if you PR Kirk you're committed and PH Collins for Heineman). Unfortunately Kirk did nothing in the 9th and Zimmer might have scored on that double(which might not happen because I think Collins is PH there if Zimmer is PR). If the runner gets to 2nd then the benefit increases enough to where it might make sense. Or if it's the 8th or 9th Kirk might not hit again so it might make sense. Leading off the 7th Kirk is definitely hitting again, likely in a pretty big spot.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Meh. He gave up 2 singles. Not terrible. Offense has to execute better and get hits with RISP Garcia has not been good all season. He's wild and doesn't miss bats. It's been a mistake from the moment the ink dried on his contract. There's no good reason for him to be used in high leverage.
Jays2champs Verified Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Would be curious to see what our record would be if we mostly played Cleveland, Detroit, Boston and Kansas City so far this year. Our schedule is way tougher to start the year and we're in a good spot. That's also with a cold offense. I like where we're at.

But do have to agree, right now trading Grichuk for Tapia looks to be a brutal trade....one that could haunt the Jays for some time.

Terrible trade of serviceable 4OF to save few bucks that does none of us any good
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Grichuk has a 420 babip and the lowest barrel rate of his career
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Tapia vs Grichuk is probably barely a 1 WAR difference at the end of the season. Its not a big deal I just cringe each time WAR is used like this. Such a fear of randomness. so the best thing to do is pretend it doesn’t exist
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Don’t worry, don’t have an appetite to debate anything
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I just cringe each time WAR is used like this. Such a fear of randomness. so the best thing to do is pretend it doesn’t exist Huh? Are we honestly surprised Grichuk is hitting better in f***ing coors field? He’s started the season well but we all know he’s gonna go 2 months straight hitting .200 with 2 strikeouts per game at some point. Literally everyone was constantly whining every day last season that he sucked and we should get rid of him. Sure Tapia sucks too but at least he’s a bit of a different player than all the other RHH sluggers on the roster.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Officially the worst with RISP. Probably high on the list of GIDP too i’d bet
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Lol. Most needy fanbase in all of sports. Need everyone to fellate McDavid at all times. Lmao, oh the irony
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I’m not surprised that the offense is off to a slow start but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. It’s May and still no signs of life.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Grichuk has a 420 babip and the lowest barrel rate of his career And yet he's easily better than Tapia in almost every facet of the game but a slight advantage in speed. You'd hope that Tapia would at least be a gold glove player with the downgrade in the bat but nope... dude has a noodle arm out there. Most of us weren't Grichuk fans but getting Tapia is like having Bad Grichuk all the time. Good Grichuk can even carry the offense for a bit, which is exactly what he did to begin last season. I'll repeat that it's a trade that a small market team does, not a team in our position trying to win the World Series. We laughed at the Marlins when we got Cimber and Dickerson for Panik last year because they were too cheap. Well, im sure the 5 Colorado fans are laughing at us here.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Kirk, Espinal, Tapia, Heinemen black hole. Montoyo f***, pinch runner for Kirk before Hein double I was driving back from my kids soccer game. Radio announcer. I wonder if they'll pinch run for Kirk. Seems like a good spot. Nope they're going to leave him in. Heineman double and Kirk is held at third. That's sort of why I thought they might pinch run for Kirk. Seems like Zimmer would have scored pretty easy there and it is the 7th inning. f*** Charlie!
Jays2champs Verified Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Officially the worst with RISP. Ouch. Good thing is we're winning right now still and that's with a tough schedule. This % is bound to go up at some point. Glad we're finding ways to win even with a cold offense, when we'll heat up it's gonna be tough for other teams.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 I dunno guys, maybe wait more than one month to judge the Grichuk Tapia deal. lol

I wasn't, and btw he's hitting .343 with 1 HR at home and .333 with 2 HRs on the road in about the same number of at bats home/away. Not to mention everyone keeps talking about how he K's so much mile high air wouldn't help that issue..
