It's weird you say that, it certainly looks like he's been trying to take more pitches, especially the first one as pitchers tend to throw outside the zone with him on the first pitch knowing his agression. Over the plast few games though he's been taking crushable first pitches like he never had the intention of swinging no matter what. Kinda like the pitchers have realized he is consciously laying off the first pitch so they're just lobbing in a cookie for strike 1.

He is probably thrown more strikes/less balls BECAUSE he has Vladdy behind him.
