Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Devers for 1.5 seasons or Vlad for 3.5 seasons… This is a dumb question lol
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Phelps? What is he really? Seems like a smoke and mirrors high wire act of impending doom to me. Saw some analysis Laika posted last week that I think answers the question. Is he someone with stuff in his arsenal that we can actually count on in playoff type leverage or is this just going to end badly?
The Iceman Verified Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 In your opinion Who is having a better season. Or worse if you prefer. Berrios @ 5.86 era or Kikuchi @ 5.08 era The ERA #s surprised me. I knew JB has been bad but didn't realize how bad. And Chapmans heater has his OPS within .011 of Bo and Teoscar. Nice run for him.

He might be fine as the 6th or 7th arm in a pen.

Berrios has been better but its only because of a couple of elite deeper starts mixed in with the stinkers. He has been dogshit and his savante page confirms it.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Yeah he's not a leverage reliever. He might be fine as the 6th or 7th arm in a pen. I agree with this - although I don't think you'll have much success if he's your 7th inning guy in the playoffs.

Don't go look.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 And Chapmans heater has his OPS within .011 of Bo and Teoscar. Nice run for him. Chapman's savant page suggests he's a lot closer to 2018-19 Chapman than the 2020-21 version - the actual production just seems to be lagging behind a bit. Hoping it's slowly starting to correct itself. My real question is what happened to the defense? The savant page shows his "outs above average" is only in the 27th percentile after it's been 90%+ his entire career (save the shortened 2020 season when he was coming off hip surgery). It this just an anomaly?
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I agree with this - although I don't think you'll have much success if he's your 7th inning guy in the playoffs. Yeah I don't mean 7th inning guy. I mean 7th best reliever.

Rimar Verified Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Jays need a good LH outfielder or/and 2nd baseman, a top 3 starting pitcher and a closer. For that, can give any players, except Guerrero, Bichette, Springer, Manoah, Kirk, Gausman, Romano, Orelvis, Moreno or Tiedemann. We don't really need a DH, coz we already have Kirk, Guerrero, Biggio, Hernandez, Springer who can be.

I'd trade Springer too but nobody would want the contract. I could see selling Bo Bichette but it would be a monster trade that would never happen.

I think the value of Guerrero and Bo is going to be a hugely interesting issue/question over the next couple years. Things can change some over the next 80 games but whats a reasonable AAV and term for a wild swinging barely adequate defensively SS? Its a position that usually doesn't age that well. 7/200? I have no clue. Seagar, Story, Simean, Baez deals all over the place. He has some rare talents but I wouldn't want to give Bo that.

Bo is basically Javier Baez with one full scouting grade improvement on the hit tool + one full scouting grade subtraction on defense

Also I was advocating for trading Bichette in a Ramirez package last offseason and signing one of the FA shortstops… im fine with Bichette/Chapman combo though Probably a bad time to trade Bichette rn
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Vladdy turns down HR Derby so he can rest his wrist for the second half. --- Also I was advocating for trading Bichette There was also some talk about possibly trading Bo + stuff for Soto if he was open.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Lets Get it Birds!!! It hurts my heart not seeing Kirk in the lineup. I hate that Springer is made out of glass.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 My confidence in our starting rotation: Manoah Gausman Stripling Berrios Everyone else
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Man, you got to figure out a way to get Kirk in the line up in a big series like this. Springer you f***ing delicate little flower.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 How nice would it be if Maximo Castillo is actually good? I mean, is that a crazy thought? He's never been an eye popper, but he's got a 6 year track record and been steady eddy at every single level on the way up. And the dude just turned 23 a month ago.
