We probably could, but do we want to? Good teams replace their older guys with younger, less expensive options.

 

Groshans/Orelvis/Moreno/etc.

 

Of those guys, Bo probably ages least gracefully considering his wild swing style and the fact he’s already sub-par at SS.

 

Probably makes most sense to sign Vlad, I could see him playing 1B for at least another 10-15 years. Teo would probably be fine too as a RF/DH option if the cost is right. But corner OF types are the easiest to sign in free agency so im not sure it should be a priority/overpay.

As for projections, ain't bad, 7th in AL and 12th in MLB actually. I'm not trying to negate his post. Dingleberry.

The Jays bullpen could certainly crumble and be the weak link that sinks this team, however they did most of the work to improve it last season and it was much better down the stretch.

Meh, you can find a weakness, or potential weakness on any team.

 

What you look at is the total package. And in this regard, the Jays are near the top of MLB.

 

Also, bullpen is the easiest to upgrade in-season.

That's not really true. Our best month was April by a mile and it just got worse from there, without a single month of even being average. Our bullpen ERA was over 5 in September/October.

The way I came to peace with this is the realization of what needs to happen for a change to be made.

Shatkins is too beta to rock the boat. It will need to be Vladdy showing his leadership and requesting a manager change.

 

It makes it difficult to fully enjoy acquisitions like Chapman. Feels like putting the cheapest gas in a Ferrari.
