He probably should be though lol

Why? He’s fairly quick in the field, normally takes good routes, and has a strong arm. He’s at the very least a decent corner OF

Hah... Jim Kaat doesn't know when to shut his mouth, dumbass...

Why is Kaat still in the booth? He has to be over 80 by now.

Edit. Just checked he's 83

You could probably dig up a lot of Harry Carey stuff that would offend people today. It is what is, an old man who has the job of yapping his gums for few hours everyday making a stupid comment. Glad Nester recognized it for what it is and praised the guy on Twitter. A lot of athletes will get offended by word clubs even when there doesn’t appear to be ill-intent

I don't care about his comment. These guys shouldn't have jobs for life. Move over, give someone else a chance. Especially since he passed his prime last century.

Yeah, I didn't find his comment offensive, just... cringy and very much the sort of thing that an 83 year old has different context for than the vast majority of his listeners. "Molester" doesn't technically mean CHILD molester, but that's the context that pretty much everyone has these days, so it makes it a poor choice, and one that wouldn't be made by a person younger than colour television.

Matt Carpenter, whom the Rangers released, has 4 homers in 19 at bats with the Yankees.

Marcus Semien, whom the Rangers signed to a $175,000,000 contract, has 2 homers in 199 at bats.

Hilarious, most of these GMs are clueless. Your top tier fantasy baseball champions could run a team better than most of these guys. That Baez signing in Detroit may be even worse than Semien. Kris Bryant is really lighting it up at Coors Field too

Joe Girardi got fired again?!

I've been waiting for that, warms my heart. I liked him as a player 30 years ago couldn't stand him as a manager

I never liked the Baez signing. Way way too much chase. Plus D.

I thought the Semien deal was a crazy price of admission but never expected close to this drop off. Having said that he is capable of getting extremely hot and coming out with a decent season still.

Baez has always been a high K rate horrendous pitch selection guy who runs into one 20-30 times a year. Over rated.

Riding a Carpenter dead cat bounce. Literally everything going right for NYY. Severino lighting it up today. 10 K and 1 hit touching 99 with filthy breaking ball. Not fair. They aren't a .712 team!

Ever noticed how when it's a contract year 90 % of these guys magically put up way better numbers then you're ever going to see out of them again? Semien and Baez are perfect examples, Bryant an even better one the guy looked washed up his lastr couple years then contract year hits a switch and does enough to earn the big contract and now he can go back to being washed up again. Guaranteed contracts are a huge detriment to the game, once you foolishly sign any of these guys for 7-10 years they can hit .100 the rest of their careers and your choice is to let them make your team worse playing every day or cut them and have to pay hundreds of millions for them to sit home. Look what Judge is doing right now, in a contract year, that's no coincidence. When he gets an 8 year 400 mil. contract after this season he'll be back to the oft injured 25-30 HR guy he's been the past few seasons after his monster rookie year.

For every “he’s having a monster year going into free agency” story, there’s like 50 that don’t. It’s just a lazy narrative that falls apart under the most basic examination

It’s a lazy narrative to say there is no such thing as improved performance in a contract year. I’m sure there’s studies but usually you can easily find flaws in those studies. It’s too much work in general. Better to just stick to a narrative

I'm sure a lot of them don't, because maybe they aren't good enough to put up a big season no matter how hard they try

Angels down 5-0 against Phillies 1st inning. Monumental collapse by them if they lose tonight, from 10 games up to .500.

Judge at it again. MVP if he stays healthy

Judge rejects the Yankees' 7-year, $213.5 million offer

The suppose Judge wins 2022 MVP

What do the Yankees do?? Was that their "best and final" offer? They let him walk on a QO draft pick?

If so, they'll trade him in the offseason, and get a haul.
