Slade Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 And the Mets went ahead and paid Scherzer $43.5MM AAV? They could of honestly got both Gausman and Ray.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 And the Mets went ahead and paid Scherzer $43.5MM AAV? They could of honestly got both Gausman and Ray. Yeah pretty crazy. Gotta think its the owner calling the shots, probably doesn’t even know who Gausman and Ray are. Teams with a puppet GM always do well...
Ehjays Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Gausman + draft pick at $110M > Ray at $115M. I was gonna add that with the $5 Mil savings you could perhaps add a decent relief pitcher that pitched for Miami and Houston but I decided not to in order to save 3 pages of debate.
WONDERBAT Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 fixed it There is no pick associated with Gausman.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 On top of no pick attached, im sure the Jays felt Gausman has a better chance of repeating his success vs Ray
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 That I did not know...sweet Yeah he accepted the QO after the 2020 season from San Fran so he wasn't eligible to receive one again.
bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 What are the blue jays front office thinking they let all 3 of them walk in free agency Matz, Semien and Ray the fact that they couldnÂ’t bring back at least 1 of the 2 pitchers Ray or Mats is very disappointing you win in baseball with pitching every team who ends up winning the World Series wins it with great pitching we lost 2 excellent pitchers Rays better but in my opinion I think it will come back to bite the blue jays I hope IÂ’m wrong but IÂ’m pretty sure I wonÂ’t be the jays will still be over 500 next season but I donÂ’t see the jays making the playoffs next year because of it even with the signing of Gausman it wonÂ’t be enough the jays won 91 games last season if the front office was really serious about winning and getting into the playoffs then they would of done everything possible to at least bring 1 pitcher back they didnÂ’t and there is no way jays win 90 games next season they will win 84 or 85 games tops

bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 But I do know the jays will be a worse next year not better by not bringing back 1 of the 2 pitchers Ray or Matz yeah we got Gausman but it’s not going to be enough to get into the postseason
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 2 things. 1. Gausman arguably pitched better than Ray last year, so if anything the Jays are likely ahead there. 2. Punctuation. Learn it. Live it. Love it.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 But I do know the jays will be a worse next year not better by not bringing back 1 of the 2 pitchers Ray or Matz yeah we got Gausman but it’s not going to be enough to get into the postseason Offseason is not over yet, and don't forget the 2021 mid season additions of Berrios and Manoah

Better overall starting rotation. Healthy Jansen all season. Even more seasoned Vladdy/Bo. Healthy Springer! 2022 > 2021
bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Yeah and I get they will be more healthy with the bats but you could win so much with hitting pitching always is what wins
bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Watch I be right about everything I just said and I come here and tell you all I told you so didn’t I?

bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I honestly don’t really care what any of you think of me you can criticize my grammar all you want go ahead
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Yeah and I get they will be more healthy with the bats but you could win so much with hitting pitching always is what wins I would honestly argue we should expect the Offense/bats to be LESS healthy this year. Last year the only important guys that got injured were Springer and Biggio. There’s a very real possibility we go through a stretch in 2022 without Bo, without Spinger again, without Teo, etc. I don’t agree with your assessment on the team as a whole though. Losing Ray and Semien doesn’t automatically mean we win less games next year.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 I honestly don’t really care what any of you think of me you can criticize my grammar all you want go ahead It's fine not to care what people think. What's not fine is sounding like a rambling idiot if you want people to actually respond to your opinions and engage in competent discourse.
bluejays07 Verified Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Go right ahead it’s like water off a duck’s back with me i heard every name in the book there is I heard it all
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Jesus. Lots of projections it was going to be quiet off season early with big labour agreement hanging in the balance. This has been head spinning so far lol. Simean got more/longer than I thought and Ray got less. Its wild so close to Glausman's deal but the draft pick, and Jays must like how he projects better.
