Thought this thread would be a good spot to post all free agent signings from around the League.

Looks like Heaney going to the Dodgers on a 1 year deal is the first transaction of Fall/Winter.

i'm so happy Heaney is off the board.

Why?

Because he's not a very good pitcher who is hurt a lot. 8 mil for a 6th starter....no thanks. We don't have Dodger money to splash that kind of cash for depth.

That's better than charging me too much for a Kyle Seager because you're fresh out of Corey Seager's I guess

I definitely don't want Seager. I would be really happy to get Seager. I just can't see it happening.

I have no idea whether he'd be willing to come here or not. But if he were willing to sign to play 3rd being as left handed bat it feels like the perfect fit. If he wants to stay at SS then moving Bo to 3rd makes is less appetizing obviously but I'm still interested. With around 110 committed including arbitration estimates we should have somewhere between 40 and 70 million to spend. I don't think multiple long term deals would be a good idea because it squeezes the Vlad/Bo last arb and FA years. So signing Corey would change the Starting Pitching calculus but you could try to get creative via trade, or try to do something short term there with a Rodon, Syndergaard, Verlander, Kershaw or Scherzer if you're near the upper end of the payroll range. There aren't that many holes where you'd spend the money elsewhere besides 3B/SP. Some for the pen and perhaps a LH corner OF/DH.

My plan A would be Corey Seager, Kirk as the DH, cheaper pen options, and then spend the rest on starters with the payroll deciding whether I can afford a high end free agent arm or I need to go the trade route. If you go the trade route I feel like Kirk is probably an asset that goes the other way in which case perhaps you use the extra payroll room on someone like Schwarber to fill that hole. I fear term for Seager might be a sticking point on our end, but he's 27. With the window we have I think you can't worry about those 35-37 aged seasons right now. If you're willing to go 7 we have a big window for all of those years I think you bite the bullet on those last couple to make it happen. I'm all in. 9-10 years x 28-32 million

Talks around is that Marcus Semien signs with the Mariners and Robbie Ray signs with Cardinals while the Yankees gets Seager and the Blue Jays reaches a deal with Kevin Gausman.

That's a massive amount of information to unpack with no links as to where the talk is coming from..lol.

Where's ECJF??? Where's the link/links man? Or did you haul this out of your rectum?

Seems like there will be a ton of competition for these top free agents.

Even trash teams are looking to spend big. Apparently the Rangers could add up to 100M in payroll lol

I think you know from whence he pulled that.

Report: Seager, Semien, other big names likely to sign before lockout

https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2223537

Good news for us wanting action rather than the usual crazy long delays between signings.

Better news for us because before the players/ owners agree to new deal it might keep teams close to the luxury tax out of the bidding (Dodgers and Yankees)

Blue jays are looking into Eduardo Rodriguez from the Red Sox that probably means they have a hunch that Ray will sign elsewhere and so will Semien especially since hiring Scott Boras as his agent who is famous for extorting the maximum money deals available for his clients.

Those are some large assumptions. Apparently E-Rod is nearing a deal with the Tigers.

Very player-friendly opt out as well for Rodriguez.

Kinda sets the expectations for Matz as well. If Eduardo is getting 14-16m per season over 5 (assuming no opt-out), Matz is probably looking at 12-ish per season. Maybe not so long though given he's a 2 years older.

I don't know. Matz has averaged 2.2 WAR/year over the past 2 full seasons (I'll leave out 2020), while E-Rod has averaged 3.75 WAR/year. E-Rod is significantly better and 2 years younger.

Based on this signing, I'd suggest Matz is more of a 2 year $20M guy - someone might dangle a 3rd year OR $12M AAV to get the deal done.

Maybe but an avg of 14M per in the 1st 2 years is a pretty good bargain for a nearly 4 WAR SP. If anything, Eduardo left some money on the table here in order to have that opt-out clause. Hell, Ray was a 4 WAR pitcher last year, and I guarantee he's not signing for 14 Million per season.

I wonder what his thoughts on Rowdy Tellez are...

Checkout Anthony Castroprovince bold predictions he saying the same thing except he has Robbie Ray going to the Angels.

The thing about bold predictions is they are almost always wrong.

Raisel Iglesias officially rejected the Angels QO. Expected for sure.

Fantastic numbers, but he will be expensive. Estimates are 4years/56m

The Reds have still not been properly shamed for giving him away for free as a salary dump last offseason.
