These damn frauds! They go on that great run to come from oblivion into a playoff spot scoring 10 runs a game then with 12 days to go they start scoring 1 run a game and lose 3 in a row, 2 to a garbage team with nothing to play for and nothing but bad pitching. What a shame to get us all excited just to s*** the bed in the end!!

f***ing hockey fans. It's actually REALLY hard to make the playoffs in Baseball, it's not over half the f***ing teams making the post season like the lesser sports.

Agreed.

f*** Springer, f*** Ryu and f*** Grichuk. Overpaid bums cost us games down the stretch.

The Jays haven't had a tonne of luck with high priced acquisitions in recent decades, that is true. Springer is playing hurt and Ryu to maybe. Hope for rebounds next year.

Grichuk is Grichuk, hope for a left handed platoon partner next year. Too bad there isn't a modern day Frank Catalanoto.

Also. I know it is frustrating but it's better to be professional when the season ends. Thank the people who made parts of it enjoyable. Here is a proper "season over" post.

...

Realistically the season is over after the loss to the Twins last night and the Yankees win. While not mathematically eliminated the networks have called the race for the NY Yankees.

First off I'd to congratulate the NY Yankees for their 26th playoff appearance in 30 years. There have been some posters who have instantiated that the race was rigged by the Umpires. We condemn these rumors. The wild card race was fair and transparent.

I'd like to thank Vladimir Guerrero jr, Marcus Semien and Robbie Ray among others for an entertaining ride this season. Up and down but in it until last night. I'd also like to thank my fellow posters for making it entertaining as always, and the mods for keeping the conversation focused.

My understanding is the games next week at Rogers Center will still be played. While it is disappointing that the games will not have relevance to the wild card race I suggest fans still go. Give the Jays a cheer for a season well done, and the Yankees a cheer for coming out on top.

Thank you, and see you in 2022.

Anyone who agrees and wants to be toxic can just leave and we'll see you next year around a late May hot streak. If they make it in this year don't come back.

I'm a hockey fan and understand this, broad brush mate. These f***s are trolls, if you don't like the thread, get rid of it. ;)

Don’t we have a series against the Yankees left with the bosox and Yankees also playing each other? Don’t like to be on the outside looking in but it’s not over yet.

We're not mathematically eliminated yet, but I think we've already had our miracle run for the season.

Am I missing something? The team is two games behind NY, plays them three times, and their other 6 games are against the Orioles and Twins. It wouldn’t take a miracle run to get in.

According to fangraphs the Jays playoff odds are 23% now. That is actually higher than I thought.

So math-wise it wouldn't be a miracle if they made it.

In the probably irrational fan brain, it seems like the young Jays are choking, Springer is injured and useless, and the mighty Yankees have veteran clutch guys, like Rizzu, solid guys who won't choke, and want to end this early next week so Cole can prep for the wild card game.

So in that context it seems like it would be a miracle if the Jays even keep in it another couple of days, let alone actually win the wild card.

The best shot is winning the next two games against the Twins (obviously), and the Yankees either splitting the next two against the Sox or losing both. Basically, the Jays need to go into next week being 1 game back at the absolute worst. That way they don't 'have to' sweep the series against the Yanks, they can take 2/3 and be tied heading into the final weekend of the season. If the Jays are 2 back (or worse) heading into the Yankee series, then they have to sweep, and having to sweep (even though the Jays have done it a few times this month) is just not a good spot to be in.

It wouldn't take a miracle, but they can only afford about 2 more losses max the rest of the way, and that might still not get them in depending on what the Yankees/Mariners do. At this point it's not about the other teams, it's about the Jays. If they can't beat the f***in Twins, then it's on them.

Rizzo: No more f***ing around boys. Cole vs. Sale is serious business, and we want Cole to have time to prepare. We end this Wednesday.

Springer: They said they can pump my knee with cortisone and morphine. I won't be able to get any power behind my swing but I won't be able to feel a thing when hitting routine pop-fly's.

Boone: Bosox vs Yankees is special s***. Ever watch game 7 2003? You boys deserve the same experience. We end it Wednesday so we give everyone a chance to prep and enjoy the experience.

Charlie: We still have a good shot at 87 wins. That's a real good season. That's a positive season.

The fact that I could totally see Charlie saying this in public makes me sad.

Boston-New York wildcard has your panties in a twist

Cole vs. Sale, both fully rested with a week prep time. Should be something. Only wrinkle is home field. They may not know that to the weekend.

This is just troll s***, 8 games left, 2 with the Twinkies, 3 against NY and 3 Baltimore

Yankees 2 with Boston, 3 with us and 3 vs TB... we're not out of this, only troglodytes will feed this narrative. Jays aren't out until the math says as much.

The Jays are nowhere near out of it yet but the only possible way to get rid of Chuckles is to miss the playoffs.

No it's not. He ain't getting fired man.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's true. I'd be shocked if Montoyo is gone regardless of the end result of the season. Obviously if they sneak into a WC spot, he's not only staying but probably getting extended, so I guess there's a terrifying option even in a best case scenario.

Then the Rogers brass need to seriously consider the leadership skills from Shatkins.
