I would imagine he plans to use Dyson defensively for Gurriel. And Gurriel is very likely to get another at-bat today

Or he could have used Romano for the 8th. Who cares who finishes the game. Your best reliever needs to face the best hitters in the lineup. Doesn’t matter if its in the 8th or the 9th.

Mayza isn't bad against RHB, but he is worse than he is against lefties, so I don't think having him face their best hitters who are all RH power guys would be the right call. I'm fine with him using Mayza in the 7th.
