That is absolutely the reason. Borucki was brought up to give them a 2nd lefty. It makes sense from that point of view for him not to be used tonight. I don't necessarily like it, but I can see the thought process.

This only makes sense if Buntoyo thinks Richards, Merryweather, and Soria are interchangeable as high leverage options, but even then it doesn't explain why he wouldn't just use Borucki who has been awful this season and is just coming back from the minors.
