Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Anytime you take a record from Roger Clemens you gotta feel good about yourself. It is truly nice to have an elite strikeout Starting Pitcher. It would be nice if we could get a few elite K rate guys in the Bullpen. Well... Depends on what their bullpen philosophy is. Cobble one together on the cheap, which is what many believe? That worked terribly this season. Was this season an aberation and they try to piece one together with low risk players/contacts again? Or do they land a couple of significant arms with track records?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Maybe the jacket can be used for just great accomplishments going forward.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Oh you can’t do that….that’s a HR jacket, pitchers should have their own. The juju on that jacket is now gone. I was thinking that too. The meaning is now lost.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Man, if you're gonna teach kids' the perfect swing, it's Kirk. Barrel travels through the strike zone so beautifully.

Or do they land a couple of significant arms with track records? I think they can do both. The Bullpen really f***ed us this year. They went hard after Liam Hendriks so they were prepared to spend bullpen money. If you can target one or 2 guys that can really make a difference you go after them. They can always find cheap options to complement the team. Not so much this year but the past this Front Office has got some dirt cheap gems. But when the difference in making the Playoffs this season came down to the Bullpen. You really wish you spent some money.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Kirk's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The kid stings it! So crazy watching a guy with his body type at this level and he's always got such an understated upbeat decorum to him. He's definitely gotta be the starting catcher going forward.

But I've heard from Both Atkins and Shapiro multiple times this season about not blowing your wad too quickly. They want to add players, add salary at a Conservative rate, as they grow. So basically, "payroll parameters". Remember that term?
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Cedric Mullins deserves better

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Didn't realize until today his tight Ray's sleeves are as well.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Please tell me Pearson will get a shot today.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Sox just scored 2 runs
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 And we sweep the A's to only gain zero ground
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 And we sweep the A's to only gain zero ground You're quite negative eh... The Sox game isn't over pal.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 You're quite negative eh... The Sox game isn't over pal. You really think they'll lose after coming back from a 6 run deficit?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 And we sweep the A's to only gain zero ground f*** off already with your doom and gloom ******** all the time.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 You really think they'll lose after coming back from a 6 run deficit? Can I borrow your crystal ball?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Kirk really needs to improve his defense
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 Baker's all over the f***ing place
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 You really think they'll lose after coming back from a 6 run deficit? The Sox are losing 6-5 after 6. Would you have felt better if Cleveland came back to take the lead? What if you were asked before the games started today that the Jays would be up 8-0 in the eighth and Boston would be losing 6-5 in the seventh. Would you be happy?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 BoSox and Yankees are 20 and 21 games over .500 Jays are 10. Doesn't look good.

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2021 Posted September 5, 2021 To be the best, you've gotta beat the best. That said, I wouldn't be at all opposed to being in the Central. While I agree with this, the playoffs are far more volatile and constantly having to fight over two or even three teams, including two often juggernauts, just to sniff them is getting mightily old (well, it did 15 years ago). The NL West sucks ass too.
