Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 One day in the next year Vlad will get a hanging breaking ball or a fastball down the middle again. It's the most rare thing in baseball the last 2-4 weeks
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Shut the f up...no one cares about legit concerns, it's the dumb, troll comments. It's not a troll comment if it's a legit concern. And the Jays bullpen is a legit concern. Who the hell wasn't super nervous with Hand warming up with the 5-4 lead. If you don't like realistic negativity then that's fine. Just say "my name is positive Pete. Positive thinking wins the day. No need for negative Nancies. No need at all. Let's all be positive. Go Jays! Go Hand! Go bullpen!"
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Can we have Adams, Martin and Woods back please? lol. I wonder if Martin will get a call-up so he can beat us in September. Timing might be right that Martin could officially eliminate the Jays from playoff contention. Probably Martin will hit 3 homeruns against Jays in a September call-up and the moment he arrives to Bregman level will come against the Jays. Dan - And that one is out of here. They said Martin wasn't showing power, but he's sure showing it in this series. Buck - Well, he had a bad thumb, and the Twins say it's healed now, and he does have a real power. This kid is certainly something. Dan - Well hopefully this will be a trade that helps both sides, Berrios has struggled a bit but the Jays have him for next year, so we will see.

As I read that I imitated their voices in my head and it was perfect. I sure hope that doesn't happen....all this adding we did sure looks stupid now.

Certainly Shatkins did not heed our advice.

Certainly Shatkins did not heed our advice. Its still not bad if they offer Semien the qualifying offer and get a draft pick back. Same with Ray. And we can definitely still make the playoffs this season. Maybe the offers just weren’t worth it for Semien and Ray. Maybe they expected the bullpen to be better down the stretch. Im sure they still expect to make the wildcard game this year.

The team just returned to TO and obviously the additions they made creating a ton of hype (as did their play). I suspect they thought they had at least a 50/50 chance of making the playoffs and it's not like they should have expected Springer to go down and Soria wouldn't even pitch before the bullpen and team s*** the bed against some bad teams and fell out of contention. I do expect them to do a much better job evaluating their manager and/or providing him with the support he needs to improve.

They’re 4 games back from the second wildcard spot with 43 games to go. Yeah they’ve played like s*** this past week but they can easily go on another run. I have no delusions that we would actually win the wildcard game or advance at all in the playoffs. They’re just not there yet. And yes Charlie really needs to be fired in the offseason.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 Im still losing my mind over the fact that Romano wasn’t used in either of these games when they had offdays Monday and Thursday. More people should be talking about this. Unless im missing something?

More people should be talking about this. Unless im missing something? Yeah buddy, the Wednesday game really stuck in my craw. I had 100 bucks on a few parlays all tied to the Jays. All the morning bets hit and I had the Jays game taped and when I was watching it I was like "WTF!? Valera batting 6th!? No Dickerson in the lineup against the shitballer righty?" And then I was literally yelling at the TV when Berrios was pulled early and again when he rolled with BRAD HAND to face the heart of the Nats order. It was one of those palpable moments when you just KNOW the pitcher's going to blow it and aren't even upset or shocked when he does because you're mentally prepared for it. My own fault tho, one should never make a bet before the lineups are announced.
