If he loses the appeal he probably just signs in Korea or Japan this year and finished his career there. I think they’ve basically torched his career.

Doesn't MLB have an agreement with those leagues to honor suspensions? I think I remember something about that.

A very large chunk of MLB's fans and prospective fans will applaud this decision. A relatively small minority will not, but they will generally be baseball diehards anyway.

Everyone on this board owes Sheryl Ring an apology, who got blasted despite being 100% correct.

Bauer is done.

Except me. I don't know who Sheryl Ring is but I've been on the "f*** Bauer" bandwagon in all aspects so far.

Ring doesn't want an apology from this board, and one won't be forthcoming.

Sheryl is having a field day on Twitter right now. This might be the greatest day of her life.

In the words of the great Tom Cheek, "Touch 'em all, Sheryl! You'll never hit a bigger home run in your life!"

She might want to wait for video replay first.

I wonder how quick the appeal hearing will be.

Granted I know very little of the details of the investigation (ditto for the rest of us), but how does the length of this suspension fit any precedent from prior suspensions for violations of the policy?

This seems like a slam dunk reduction on appeal.

It’s crazy how the league is willing to alienate a majority of their fans on this issue while catering to the small vocal minority online. No balls!

He can't brosoff, under the International agreement, he can play Indy ball or in Mexico.

Anyone else think Bauer goes the civil route against MLB and maybe even the PA?

I dont see how he could. MLB and the PA has made nearly 0 public statements about this whole thing other than the usual "we are proceding with our investigation...respecting the process..."

MLB would have used independent investigations, as is standard for these cases, and they would be applying precedent from all labour relations, not just MLB.

Sheryl Ring is cringe SJW, but people defending Bauer are a bit odd.

You should be able to separate the player and the person.

Bauer, Bonds etc are terrible people.

Great players. I don’t condone their behavior off the field.

Damn, they basically ended his baseball career today then.

So which one is it?

The first. The percentage of women that have experienced sexual abuse / violence is very high, and those that haven't are well aware of the fact. That's over 50% of the populace and isn't a good percentage of males that think Bauer is a f'ing creep that should be banned from baseball.

All labour relations is very broad statement. how could they possibly use every suspension from every union for comparison? Seems like using major sports union suspensions would be the more appropriate comparisons.

And for domestic abuse precedent, there's no better place to look than the NFL.

Half a season is the current precedent and that's with criminal charges filed and video evidence of the crime, so how this gets 2 full seasons is kinda hard to see

And it's ridiculous, he's already been out 99 games, so in all he's suspended for over 400+ games.

It's hard to accept such a long suspension relative to others when the DA declined to press charges and we have no idea what he actually did. I don't trust MLB to provide good baseballs, let alone determine the correct and fair punishment in a politically charged case involving a polarizing figure.

Also, quick question. Can he play while appealing his suspension? or does his admin leave continue? Seems like you cant be on admin leave and suspension at the same time, and players have always been allowed to play while appealing suspensions in the past.

If MLB thought Bauer was a pain in the ass when they had some control over him, I'm not sure they're gonna like the result of a pissed off Bauer who they have no control over.

Wow what a bullishit decision. Robbing this dude of 2 years of his career. More like 3 years if you factor last season.

K, so they suspended Sam Dyson for the full 2021 season without any charges filed against him. So i guess they feel this is worse than what he did.
