Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 If someone posts a moronic baseball opinion then you can call them a moron. We have a long and proud history of this. And yes, the mods all get special treatment. Other than Deadpool. He's on thin ice. I have tenure.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 See above Dude - that's a candidate for worst post of the year. Congrats?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Every starter who is pitching well should go 7+ innings. That'll help alleviate the pressure off the pen. Avoiding the third time around the line-up only works when your BP is good. There is absolutely no reason Ryu, Matz or Ray should be taken out after the 5th inning.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 So turning a bad post into a legitimate conversation. I heard today media people's saying that the team "has to" trade from the prospect capital to improve the pen. My question is does this move the needle enough to be worth it? And if yes who do you deal for? I have predicted that the Jays make a move for Daniel Bard all year. It is the Rockies they will throw Givens in for free. I don't know what Bard would cost but at 36 he isn't really helping the Rockies but has another year of ARB still. Outside of a move where you get a multi year pen arm I don't think dealing too many assets is the right move

Cole Hamels could also be interesting in the pen. I wonder what the status on Salazar is?
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Why do we have to trade from prospect pool? With Springer back soon and hopefully Kirk, why not package up gurriel or grichuk with a catcher for a few live arms

A team that's out of it would trade "win now" assets for prospects, a team that's in the playoff hunt would keep their "win now" assets.

Unless they have a surplus of 'win now' assets in the pen and are in need of 'win now' assets at alternate positions that perhaps we can help with. Don't know if there's a match out there though.
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Ok, but the Ray's traded willy Adames for pitching help, why can't the Jay's.
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 I mean a similar player,not actually adames,duh
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Ok, but the Ray's traded willy Adames for pitching help, why can't the Jay's. Because the Rays are looking to deal Adames anyway before he becomes expensive next year. Plus, they have multiple guys that can step in and do Adames' job just as well, if not better than he can.

But I would imagine Toronto will try to trade a catcher for controllable, good pitching. Probably Riley Adams
