I think Tulo played 3 more games over the 4.5 years of his contract. From July 2017 when he went "day to day" at age 32 he played 3 games, for 70 million or close to it.

 

And 3 games over the last 3.5 years of his contract were for the Yankees, l.o.l

Yeah I don't understand why they'd want to rush him when he's not healthy enough to play the field. Given the nature of his injuries, it was a recipe for disaster. Even if he had to miss 2-3 months, it is what it is. Just make sure that when he comes back, he's healthy. Now it's back to waiting, and unfortunately there's no guarantee they won't rush him again.

Unfortunately this season is likely a wash for Springer. He’s had a similar quad injury before that kept him out for several months. Sucks but hopefully he’ll be ready to go next year. Maybe get him back for a September push this year.

Exact same scenario as the Donaldson shoulder injury. Everyone and their brother knew it would be a long-term issue and the FO tried to play it off as “fatigue”
