Love these daily game threads. It was a struggle to see who would create one before TwistedLogic took the bull by its horns.

Let's continue this streak and hope Springer is good enough to be in the lineup.

It's funny I mentioned this in another thread less than an hour ago but Arden Zwelling is an excellent Blue Jays storyteller and he dropped a new "Big Read" today on Marcus Semien's return to the Bay Area for tonight's series against the Athletics:

I think this series favors us a little bit as the A's are prone to giving up a lot of runs and with what our offense is doing right now plays into our hand. If our pitching can be average i don't think we have an issue with this series.

Good read. Interesting, he says the Jays proposed a 4 year deal but couldnt agree on a number.

Damn... the 4 year deal sparks the curiosity. Would he have been fine being a 2nd baseman for all 4 years? Hard to think that for someone who worked that hard at becoming a good SS to just become the 2nd baseman.

My theory would be that they would have given him SS if they agreed to a long term deal but since it's only a 1 year deal, 2B was decided instead.

Sounds about right

What do you think regarding Springer? I think he re aggravated the quad , I’m not buying the fatigue s*** the Jays are putting out there

He already stated that he was more mentally scared of pushing his quad than the physical injury itself. He said he was surprised his body was able to do certain things that he didn't think was possible.

My guess was that he just had another scare mentally and got a bit paranoid. He should know his body better than anyone so if he needed to be out then that's what has to happen. Those type of things could sometimes be a precursor to a more serious injury.

He was jumping around in the dugout after the Jays scored in the 8th. I think he's fine, was probably just feeling a bit dehydrated or run down at the time and they pulled him out of an abundance of caution.

Bet hes in the starting lineup tonight.

Why the hell is Panik at 3B again? Seems like common sense by now to put Espinal there...

Common sense to everyone but the man in charge of making these decisions.

Springer is just dehydrated from DH'ing last night. Everything is fine.

I prefer my theory better. Dehydrated from sitting on your ass is a bit much lol.

Gurriel's bat coming around in the past week (187 wRC+ in last 6 games), so makes sense to bat him 8th behind the most professional hitter in the sport.

Hey, Panik has a 74 wRC+ and a glove that's considerably worse than Espinal's, so you HAVE to get him into the lineup.

Sounds like a bunch of BS. I guess we'll see how long he sits for dehydration

Panik also has the platoon advantage with his robust 77 wRC+ against RHP since the start of 2018. When you combine that type of pop with the clearly inferior defense at third, and he's just too good to have sitting on the bench.

See you in June Springer

He wouldn't be in Oakland if he wasn't going to play. This is just load management. I thought you Toronto sports fans would be used to this after a year with Kawhi.
