gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Joe Siddal trying to muscle in on a managerial option, lol.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 John Schneider as interim manager tomorrow sounds like a great idea. Bring Dante back on the bench.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Buntoyo getting replaced would make this poor start more bearable. Unfortunately I don’t see it happening.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Lol Joe Siddall calling out Montoyo for pinch hitting for Kirk and not Jansen Siddal is great - we need more Siddal, less Buck/Tabby.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Tellez and Jansen may benefit from some AAA time.

They just exercised his option for 22 so he's paid for this year and next and Atkins said they are eager to talk about a further extension. They love him. I just don't get it. He could be a very good guy to have on a staff, but some of his in game decisions. I don't get it.

The only thing I can think of is that the front office doesn’t think the role of manager matters much over the course of a full season, and they’d rather have an agreeable guy like Montoyo that won’t ever try to overrule or strong arm the front office decisions.

Did they inherit or hire Terry Francona in Cleveland?

I agree with this. I've always thought the most important job of the manager is player development. Hiring the right coaches, allocating playing time to the most important young players, giving sound instruction, or making sure the coaches are giving sound instruction. The team, outside of Vlad, looks awful at the plate right now. Terrible approach. Can you blame the manager for this? The coaching staff should take some blame, and the manager is the quarterback of the coaching staff. At the very least it's another demerit. It would be pretty easy to overlook Charlie's stupid mistakes if the team was hitting and the young players looking solid. You have a team that has basically been scoring 2 runs a game (outside of the 15 run game) so it's hard to overlook Charlie's other stupid mistakes.

I don't remember seeing him on the bench yet this year.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Tellez and Jansen may benefit from some AAA time. They've been spectacularly bad at the plate Seriously hurting the offence and wasting the DH spot
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 They've been spectacularly bad at the plate Seriously hurting the offence and wasting the DH spot I guess the only debatable thing there is that most of the other guys have only been marginally less atrocious lol
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 It's hard to watch Jansen at the plate. It's good he's taking pitches but that weak contact...
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I don't know how Semien put up those great numbers in 2019. Dude looks horrendous at the plate. I think it's the real him unfortunately... 2019 looks like a fluke Don't know who's the crackpots running this circus but they had 2 of today's best position players at their disposal Urshela ranked the 9th best 3rd baseman in baseball today and Biggigo the 8th best second baseman in baseball today. They gave away a good 3rd baseman and have a top ranked 2nd baseman playing 3rd base and they wondering why they are next to the bottom of the division keep going the way they are they'll win nothing in the near future.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 This board few months ago: “Not trading Jansen for Lynn, no way!” He’s so bad
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 This board few months ago: “Not trading Jansen for Lynn, no way!” He’s so bad His defense is good You can tolerate a below average bat from a catcher with good defsene But there's a limit. And his wRC+ of -27 is definitely past that limit. He needs to shape up at the plate
