For those traditionalists who think the variables of a particular umps strike zone (also known as f***ed up calls) improves the game I’ll never understand it. It’s 2021. We have improved technology. This is a great game. We don’t need idiots and or egomaniacal umps helping decide the outcome. Angel Hernandez should be all the evidence required to move to robo umps.

If it's a fight with the union re: jobs then put 2 umps down the lines like they do in the playoffs, but leave balls and strikes for technology to sort out.

i don't even want them calling it. Install a digital board that identifies balls and strikes. But sure...let them stand there and call safe and out should there be a close play at the plate. There will be opportunities for them to show that they shouldn't be doing that either.

Many remember this fiasco 1997 Marlins Brave Livian Hernandez playoff game? About the most egregious example i can remember of an umps zone deciding game.

2015 Game 6 vs KC still pisses me off. We are facing Wade Davis and Pompey gets to 3B. We have Navarro and Revere up. All of a sudden the zone changes and balls that were called balls all game are now strikes destroying their ABs. Davis loved to use the splitter, so the difference between 3-1 and 2-2 count was monumental. Next thing I know we lost, and Revere is beating a garbage can and my 7 year old boy is bawling his eyes out in shock. No, we don't need umpires.

 

We need robo umps with a consistent accurate strike zone. It would cut down on MLB K rate and improve the game.

The only thing missing from that game was some neckbearded inbred hillbilly giving the Royals a two run homer.

 

The sooner they take balls and strikes away from umpires the better. They're a f***ing disgrace and completely incapable of showing any consistency when it comes to doing it themselves.

Balls and strikes is the easiest fix. They'll still need umpires everywhere, including home plate in case there is a play at the plate or in case they want a human to relay what the technology called a ball or a strike, so no jobs will be lost by this. Just a better, more accurate sport. MLB is using the minors to test this out, which clearly means they want to implement it, but baseball has a lot of red tape to work around to get even the tiniest things done so who knows when it will actually happen. If it were the Yankees that happened too the media would be all over it, those strike calls were ridiculous, made me rage. We got robbed. MLB should have installed technology for balls and strikes already.
