ShowtimeBelli Verified Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Jansen recalled. Was hoping it would be Kirk
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Jansen recalled. Was hoping it would be Kirk Kirk was crushing it too but I suppose this is the move until maybe they can move McGuire for something if he stays hot?

That's gotta be the plan with reese. Hope he stays hot and see if you can flip him for something in a few weeks.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Did Charlie wring his neck after that outburst? Good man Charlie
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Kirk was crushing it too but I suppose this is the move until maybe they can move McGuire for something if he stays hot? Looking up the box score and watching Kirk crush it in AAA over the next week is going to be incredibly frustrating.

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Did Charlie wring his neck after that outburst? Good man Charlie This team has had a lot of neck issues this season. Biggio, Cole and now Chatwood. Although with Chatwood I wouldn't be surprised if this is more of the phantom variety of injury.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Fun fact : Espy has been worth more fWAR this year so far than Grichuk.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Odd Espinal is out of the lineup after his big day yesterday and a lefty on the hill. Probably had too many pops last night celebrating!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Some reinforcement in the pen... lol Jamie Campbell Allgeyer was optioned.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Odd Espinal is out of the lineup after his big day yesterday and a lefty on the hill. I mean, he's a bench player and it's not like he's sitting for JOE f***ING PANIK or anything. Everyone in today's lineup (with the possible exception of Jansen) is a better player than Espinal. That's not a slight on Espinal, he's an AMAZING bench piece and having a great season, it's just that we have a very good team right now.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Things are falling in line with the starting line up finally. Just missing Kirk and having to watch black hole Jansen again for some f***ing reason.

InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Oh boy, Dolis reinstated. Better not be used in high leverage over Cimber or Mayza.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Oh boy, Dolis reinstated. Better not be used in high leverage over Cimber or Mayza. I doubt it, but he was our set-up man, lol. Borucki back next and then Merryweather, we should be alright soon.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Need to take it to Tampa today. Keep the positive momentum going with a sweep
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Odd Espinal is out of the lineup after his big day yesterday and a lefty on the hill. Biggio has a 1.173 OPS vs Yarbrough this season

Biggio is the more valuable player to have on the team but if they’re playing 3b any given day, team is better with Espinal.

I'm no fan of Biggio playing out of position (though, he wasn't stellar at his only good position yesterday...), but I do want his bat in the lineup. I won't have an issue if there's a defensive substitution later in the game, that's for sure. Edit: Since Biggio's return from injury .297/.403/.516 .391 wOBA 146 wRC+

I doubt it. Big offensive gap. I love what Espinal does though. He is becoming one of those fan favourite bench players who sticks around for years
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Biggio has a 1.173 OPS vs Yarbrough this season We have struggled against him before. Really hope we have an approach tailored for his stuff today. He is a good arm but not that good. Looking at his stats this am and I actually thought they would be better given how well he seems to pitch against us. Go Jays!
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 But Biggio batting ahead of Grichuk and Gurriel vs a lefty. Seems way to forced I don't think Yarbrough has traditional splits. He's a junker with lots of changeup stuff.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 But Biggio batting ahead of Grichuk and Gurriel vs a lefty. Seems way to forced Biggio's career splits lefty/righty are eerily similar. He has a higher OBP v/ lefties, higher SLG v/ righties. wRC+ is exactly 113 for both, wOBA v/ L is .340, v/ R is .341 Not really a guy you need to sit v/ lefties. (Big difference in PAs left v/ right, but that's to be expected as there are far more right handed pitchers...) He's been worse against lefties this year, but it's a 54 PA sample size, so hard to read into.

Yarbrough is hit or miss, he's gotten killed in 5 of his 16 appearances. We got to him in one start, but the other he blanked us. I'd love to see a sweep today... F U Yarbrough!!!
