BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Their agent should've been punted into the sun. AA rocked out with his cock out on those deals. Turner gets about double that at least, lol. AA did similar with Edwin and Jose. Those contracts were steals for the Jays.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Ouch... Rendon shut down for the year.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 AA did similar with Edwin and Jose. Those contracts were steals for the Jays. At least Jose and Edwin were both a year away from free agency when they extended, and both were coming off career years (Jose in 2010 and Edwin in 2012) so both the team and the players shared some risk in those contracts. The Acuna and Albies deals were so far away from free agency and there's practically no risk for the Braves.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Watching SDP in 9th. Mark Melancon. Seems like he has been pitching pretty effectively forever...career 2.96 FIP with only a 92 MPH heater. Mostly in leverage without a super high K rate. He moves like he is wearing a neck brace. Must be part of the deception arsenal.

Nobody was sure they weren't one season wonders.

This Board will never forgive him for RA but he made some good deals. Didnt he go all in with his entire international budget on Vlad? f***, melancon blew the save. A's came back to tie it.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 nice jinx lol Me and my big mouth.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 f***ing Melancon sucks. f***ing A's. So thats what a comeback win looks like eh?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Call it a day big guy, unless he can use their rehab centre.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Wow that sucks, seems like end of the road for him.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Reminds me of when Doug Gilmour got traded to a team (which shall remain nameless)... And blew out his knee on his first shift.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 I mean that's kind of what happens when a 40 year old returns to the mound somewhat abruptly after two years off
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 I mean that's kind of what happens when a 40 year old returns to the mound somewhat abruptly after two years off So I should reconsider my comeback then, huh? I mean, I'm 43 and it's only been like 28 years since I've pitched, and I wasn't very good then...
BCZ Verified Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 What happened to Danny Salazar and why hasn't anybody picked up this great pitcher? He he some injuries woes but aside from that the dude was f***in eletric.

BCZ Verified Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 His injuries have been too persistent/serious. Can't even get on the mount in the last few years. Sure but someone should have at least signed him to a minor league contract... makes me think he retired.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Sure but someone should have at least signed him to a minor league contract... makes me think he retired. IIRC he tried to play for del Licey this winter. I remember reading a tweet that he was signed by them. But it looks like he never got into a game. Probably sucked in camp or got hurt right away?
Ray Verified Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Shohei Ohtani: 167 OPS+ (2nd in AL) 159 ERA+ (2nd in AL, if he qualified) Gotta be unanimous MVP if the season ended today. What a crazy season.

The guy never sucked at pitching when healthy and it's not like he's been out of the game for that long.

Ray Verified Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Red Sox down 6-0 to the Tigers in the 6th. Their hitters have been ice cold recently, and their pitching is regressing hard. We're throwing our 4 best starters at them this weekend, with 2 games being a 7 inning doubleheader which naturally favours. A sweep isn't out of the question here, but 3 out of 4 will put us right back in the division conversation.
Ray Verified Member Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Also, I know small sample and all that, but Joey Gallo has a .396 OPS for the Yankees so far. You love to see it.
