lol, the Red Sox and Rays absolutely grinded out a 0-0 game for 8.5 innings and then Manny Margot got on with a single, stole second, advanced to the third on the errant throw and came home on a wild pitch.

What I find the most hilarious are the two teams at the top of this list...like...you needed help to be this bad?

Pretty interesting stat. Since the crackdown on sticky substances began, the Blue Jays are one of just three teams that have actually seen an increase in spin rate.

The difference is obviously negligible (+13 RPM means nothing) but the big thing is that they haven't dropped at all. That makes me wonder if the Blue Jays on an organizational level saw the MLB's warnings early in the year and decided to have most of the staff pitch without any help from substances to get ahead of the curve and make that adjustment earlier on. If that's true, the Jays might have an advantage for the next few months.

"MLB players are boring and have no character"

This:

Should be suspensions for these metldowns.

"What a crybaby, I hope he gets suspended".

Come on, the umpire had a smirk on his face. Romo was being overdramatic for the laughs.

Not sure if this belongs here but Montreal going to the Stanley Cup Finals has to sting for the Leaf die hards lol

It must be difficult playing on the Orioles.

Matt Harvey has to go out there and give up a run per inning every start for the rest of the season cause they won't cut him

Conveniently that works out well for us tonight :)

Tanner Roark was awful but somehow Harvey has been even WORSE and they just keep sending him out there every 5 days

We'll it's all true

Harvey has been even WORSE than Roark was and he's still starting for the Orioles while Roark got dumped by the Jays

Are you using ERA as the indication?

Yes I was

Somehow Harvey is worth a little bit of positive WAR despite having an xERA almost 6, a FIP and xFIP of almost 5 and walking over 3 batters per 9

So OK they're both just bad

The All-Star game will no longer have players wearing their home team jerseys. Nike is introducing the All-Star game jersey concept they use in the NBA.

Jays fans are pissed there's an American flag on the Blue Jays variant, lmao.

As I shirt I like it, but as a uni? Not too sure about that. Also, why does it have the American flag on it? lol

Sometimes I look at FIP and fWAR for pitchers and it's pretty intuitive why a guys numbers are the way they are. And then I'll look and see that Matt Harvey is worth similar fWAR to Robbie Ray and only a bit lower than Steven Matz and be very f***ing confused as to how that's happening.

Yeah. I'm fully on board for WAR for position players, but I still find it iffy for pitchers sometimes.

Regardless I'm sure Spanky and I can agree that Harvey should be "good hittin'" tonight. :)

Yeah fWAR is based on FIP. Ray's HR rate drive the high FIP.

It's frustrating, and I believe fWAR for pitchers should incorporate xFIP a bit more, which normallizes the HR rate.

That said, WAR probably drives a lot of FA contracts now, so let's hope they fix it after we extend Ray :D.

Plus year to year ball changes make comparison difficult

You have to hit a fly ball a couple MPH more now to get it out of the park on average than just last year

Teams would all have their own, in house versions of total value. I bet none of them are the same as fWAR, for pitchers.

Ray with his HR rate makes some sense cause he's been a weird outlier. Even compared to Matz though it's odd. fWAR has Harvey at 0.7 and Matz at 1. Which given each of the FIP (3.8 vs 4.69) you wouldn't think would line up.

I'm curious who's spin rates haven't changed. Do you think there's anyone that wasn't using "the stuff" to bolster their stuff?

I remember seeing someone post about Ray's spin-rates not changing.

Mike Soroka re-tore his Achilles walking to the ballpark. Yikes.

Hate to say it but that’s probably a wrap for his career.
