G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Will see how he holds up late into the game. Last start he struck out 8 of 9, but left after 3 innings. Fingers crossed. He also said he felt the problem was from swinging the bat, not throwing
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 DeGrom has faced 23 straight batters without giving up a hit Every game there are crazy stats you can spout
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Impressive...must be close to a record?
Benito Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 It's criminal he even has 2 losses. 14ip 8h 2er 1bb 23so in those 2 losses.
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Stupid me, I guess 27 is pretty good

Bluebombers Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 How about oral hershisers consecutive scoreless innings record of 59 Tough to beat that one
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Ozzie Albies is having a real bad time
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Ozzie Albies is having a real bad time lol... deGrom is must watch tv.
Benito Verified Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 It's almost comical how some pitchers just can't seem get any run support. Offence really needs to score more runs for deGrom. Who is this Muller guy that is holding them to 1 run?
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 It remains absurd that the Mets subject their pitchers to Dom Smith in the OF.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 It remains absurd that the Mets subject their pitchers to Dom Smith in the OF. That was horrawful.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 deGrom's done for the day. He lowered his ERA from 0.54 to 0.50 Lmfao
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Does Degrom win Cy Young if he only throws 150 innings?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 If DeGrom has the best pitching season of all time, he deserves MVP too. That's beyond "in play" and moving increasingly toward "likely" IMO.
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 So how many innings would Degrom have to throw to NOT win the CY assuming he keeps pitching like he is now? 100? 120?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Did Buxton leave injured already? If that's the case, man, lol.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 So how many innings would Degrom have to throw to NOT win the CY assuming he keeps pitching like he is now? 100? 120? Wouldn't that really depend on other starters IP, I don't think we'll see many guys going to 200 innings after last year's shortened season. deGrom would have to get hurt to go less than 150 I believe.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Records/trivia Jacob deGrom created today: - deGrom was the first pitcher inspected by umps for sticky substances under the new league mandate. | Video - deGrom became the first player in MLB history to pitch 12 straight starts allowing 1 run or less. - deGrom broke the record for most consecutive hitters retired in the 1st inning, with 34. - deGrom left the game with a 2.49 ERA and a 10.7 K/9 in 195 career starts. No other pitcher in MLB history with at least 70 starts has posted a sub 2.50 ERA with 10+ K/9 at any point in their career. | Source And he caught this comebacker, because why not.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Angel Hernandez misses an easy strike three call (3rd pitch of this at-bat). Batter goes on to hit a homer two pitches later to break up the Astros no-hitter in the 8th inning.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 The Snakes Won, it's a festivus miracle! Seriously though, imagine this forum if the Jays lost 40 of their last 45 games? Anarchy!!!
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Did Buxton leave injured already? If that's the case, man, lol. Yup, he did, left hand contusion after getting beaned by an Odorizzi heater, x-rays to come next. This dude has the worst luck ever.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 ... He got hit in the hand by a pitch. Well, maybe if that moron didn't have ball magnets surgically installed into his hand, he wouldn't be so injury prone! Friccin' moron!

To be fair guys, Buxton has himself an extensive past on the IL. But, yeah... nailed by a pitch in on the hands is definitely bad luck, lol. Buxton's injury history He's missed time this season with hamstring, knee and now hip injuries, and he's played just 150 of a possible 252 games since 2019. And that's after he missed almost the entire 2018 season. Buxton's failed to play a 100 games for the 4th consecutive year. May 7, 2021 He's flippin' hexed!
