Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 You can't be so simplistic to suggest the Dodgers win because they outspent everyone. It plays a huge role and helps eliminate a lot of mistakes. How do you think they got Betts on the team? Dude just played a massive role in their first championship in ages.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 I get it. Again - not saying it's right or wrong, but if you want SSS, then Snell's ERA the 3rd time through is 6.35. If people want to talk about "going with your best" when the game is on the line. Nick Anderson has essentially been the best reliver in baseball since arriving in TB last year. FIP of about 1.50. 2 WAR in 37 2/3 innings. But I get it, he hasn't been as dominant lately....but your weighing that v. Snell against the lineup a 3rd time where he's historically been poor too. TB makes these types of moves and has really good success more often than not. Do you actually watch the game, or just follow on an app? If you are watching then you would see that Snell was dealing with only 73 pitches thrown. If you weren't watching, then you still have to question the move as only one ball was hit over 100mph (105) on a single. Everything else was was hit 94mph or less.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Some are s***ing on this 'formulated' approach....yet we're about to see the Dodgers win the WS on a bullpen day when they have used 7 pitchers. You think he's been using his gut and the eye test all game? On Gonsolin he did, and was right. This was a conventional start, bruh.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Gonsolin Floro Wood Baez Gonzalez Gateraol Urias Look at all the high prices horses that LA ran out there today!!! holy f***. Ya let's ignore the 200 million theyve used on other players for the series. Lets drop it and just enjoy the last game of the season. I'm about to go into depression after today with nothing to watch.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Mookie breaks the hearts of 7,432 fans in Tampa! That's okay. 7,431 of them are CGI.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Hah, I think the Lightning do surprisingly well at the gate! Maybe due to their recent success but they don't have pathetic crowds like the Devil Rays. Because they play in Tampa
HealthDream007 Verified Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Not surprising Jansen isn't in there.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Not surprising Jansen isn't in there. Gut, eye, stats - literally everything suggests Jansen shouldn't be pitching!
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Can you idiots not see Brownies point objectively? The Rays have made it to the World Series by doing moves like this all season. It is right more often than not. Snell is unarguably worse the third time through the order. He is not a Scherzer level ace. It should not be a surprise to anyone to see Snell be taken out at this point, unless you don't watch Rays games at all. The question is more was he taken out for the right pitcher - in which case, I would argue not, because Anderson has been run into the grounds this postseason and likely fatigued. But the Rays would argue that he has been the best reliever in baseball the past two years and his body of work does speak for itself.

Rays do not care about pitch counts at all. They have said that pitch counts mean nothing it's times seen. Don't manage a playoffs different than the regular season. I like the concept. In the end the best team won. No pitching move would have made a difference.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 It's nice to see a team with fans win the World Series.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Would've been weird for a team to win a championship and then move to a different city in a couple of years.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Man am i going to miss watching baseball. Dont think i missed a game of last 2 series on PVR or live. LAD deserved it for bouncing back after the other night. Urias, Mookie, Muncy and Seagar....so many guys stepped up. Taking huge cuts and squaring up balls against Glasnow was impressive. Rays solid team....so much better than our Jays still. 2020 f***ed up as it was was better than no ball. Its a wrap.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 It's nice to see a team with fans win the World Series. 2nd highest payroll won the world series. All is in good order. Time for the Jays to spend money!
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 lol Vasgersian laughing at the guy "furiously handing out masks"
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Masks off Covid celebration They already had a huge spike because of the Lakers celebration. Not trying to make a joke of the situation but LA hospitals will be working extra hard.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 32 years is a drought now... There are 30 teams in the league, not getting one in 32 years is not a big deal.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Who gets MVP? Seager for me
