As Cash said - this is the way we do things. Pitchers need short memories and thick skin.

You guys can say you don't like this style of baseball all you want because you prefer traditional managing and want people to make decisions with their gut - but you have to respect what TB does and the results they get. Competitive for 12 years in row now, all while rolling out a bottom 5 or 6 payroll.

I mean Jays24 - you seem confused and upset by this decision like you expected something different? That's on you bruh. Cash isn't going to change his approach in Game 6 of the WS. He doesn't give 2 f***s whether you or anyone in baseball thinks they are crazy. They are in the WS man.

Lol..

Yeah, I was looking at the games in 2018 and 2019 when Snell went more than 6IP and didn't notice any blowups 3rd time through. He was having one of those games.

It sucks for baseball fans too, and hence MLB. I'm sure the 200 Rays fans watching the game are pissed.

Holy f*** Jim - Snell went 'more' than 6 innings twice in 2019....TWICE

Kenley's closing tonight, book it. Well, if the scenario arises of course.

I think Urias goes the distance.

Anderson has been so bad lately... if you’re pulling Snell it’s gotta be for someone better. Almost as bad as Roberts trying to use Kenley to close game 4

This. I mean I totally get it when Anderson is money but put the computer away for one second in this case

Likely, but who knows. lol

It would certainly get Cash off of the hook if Kenley comes in and blows it.

But we were all watching Snell at his best with our very eyes. We had no idea how Anderson would look and given his recent track record, it didn't seem like a smart move. Guess they need to update some of their formulas to adapt better to recent situations.

No offense, but you're not a trained baseball eye. None of us are. TB's formula isn't fool proof. It won't work every time and they won't win every game.....but they've proven their formula is pretty successful. The 2 teams in the World Series use analytics as much as anyone in baseball. Whether people like it or not, the old adage of managers going with a gut feeling and such will be phased out of baseball...mainly because the success of eye tests and gut feelings is not that great. Very few are consistently good at it.

The issue is nobody talks about all the times managers go with their gut and it proves to be pure s***. We only hear managers praise themselves by saying they went with their gut when it works out.

Side note - Betts is phenomenal. MVP

Buck Martinez said it's a bad move...my bad, he must be right. LOL.

I'm not saying it's the wrong move or the right move. I'm telling you that it's the way TB plays the game and they've been extremely successful doing it and you have to respect that they probably know significantly more about this move than anyone watching...and finally that you're a f***ing donut if you didn't expect to see them make this move, or if you think Kevin Cash gives a f*** what people think.

C'mon man.. An elimination game in the WS should be approached as an isolated incident, not like a mid season game where the vast majority of the analytical information is gathered.

Some are s***ing on this 'formulated' approach....yet we're about to see the Dodgers win the WS on a bullpen day when they have used 7 pitchers. You think he's been using his gut and the eye test all game?

Dodgers don't win because of analytics... they win because they just outspend everyone. Its about time they won after all these years.

And of course the Rays are doing great for their standards. Not knocking when they make these moves for average players. Just not the Snell's of the world. Agree to disagree.

Can't believe Boston traded Betts of all guys lol.

I get it. Again - not saying it's right or wrong, but if you want SSS, then Snell's ERA the 3rd time through is 6.35.

If people want to talk about "going with your best" when the game is on the line. Nick Anderson has essentially been the best reliver in baseball since arriving in TB last year. FIP of about 1.50. 2 WAR in 37 2/3 innings. But I get it, he hasn't been as dominant lately....but your weighing that v. Snell against the lineup a 3rd time where he's historically been poor too. TB makes these types of moves and has really good success more often than not.

He was amazing during the regular season, no question. But he's given up runs in the last 6 outings. In last 9.2 innings he's had 16 base runners on. SSS or not, the risks are too great to put him in a 1 run game in the WS. I'm sorry, this is the wrong move.

Well the other option was Tampa having 2 lol!!

Oh crap... totally forgot about that. Probably because their combined fan bases don't even equal 1 normal fan base lol

No, he's using one of the highest payrolls in baseball lol

You can't be so simplistic to suggest the Dodgers win because they outspent everyone.
