Dave Roberts is just as bad

Agreed but I just want this style of baseball to die asap. Pretty sure both would have taken out Halladay when he had his no hitter.

Anderson has been so bad lately... if you’re pulling Snell it’s gotta be for someone better. Almost as bad as Roberts trying to use Kenley to close game 4

I pray to god nobody compares this hook to our game 1 against tampa with shoe and ray

Can we compare it to Game 2 when Cash did the same thing, it worked and they won the game?

Posted
Anderson has not been lock down like he has been in the Regular Season. He has allowed at least a run in has last 6 outings. In his last 9.2 Innings he sports a 6.52 ERA! Well done Kevin Cash.. sigh

How do you know they wouldn't have won the game by not doing that in the first place?

Snell is not that far off of a DeGrom or a Scherzer. I can see going by the spreadsheet for your average starter, where the downgrade from the starter to reliever X is not that great. But for elite guys like Snell, the downgrade to a reliever is pretty significant. When there is gas in the tank, and his pitches are working, leave him in.

set in stone game plan. Pitchers don't even get mad anymore.

As Cash said - this is the way we do things. Pitchers need short memories and thick skin.

You guys can say you don't like this style of baseball all you want because you prefer traditional managing and want people to make decisions with their gut - but you have to respect what TB does and the results they get. Competitive for 12 years in row now, all while rolling out a bottom 5 or 6 payroll.

I mean Jays24 - you seem confused and upset by this decision like you expected something different? That's on you bruh. Cash isn't going to change his approach in Game 6 of the WS. He doesn't give 2 f***s whether you or anyone in baseball thinks they are crazy. They are in the WS man.

When every single person watching the game and the announcers are universally calling it a bad move, its most likely because it was a bad move.

I agree with exactly what Jim canuck said. If you go down, you go down with your best. Snell isn't your average pitcher so stop treating him like it. Play the numbers game with your other players.

Snell's averaged less than 5 innings per start in 2019 and 2020. TB has been protecting him v. the 3rd time through the lineup for awhile now....even when he won the Cy Young he averaged less than 6 inning per start.

He isn't DeGrom or Max at all.

Buck Martinez said it's a bad move...my bad, he must be right. LOL.

I'm not saying it's the wrong move or the right move. I'm telling you that it's the way TB plays the game and they've been extremely successful doing it and you have to respect that they probably know significantly more about this move than anyone watching...and finally that you're a f***ing donut if you didn't expect to see them make this move, or if you think Kevin Cash gives a f*** what people think.

I said everyone, not just Buck.

And yeah im not surprised Cash pulled Snell but it doesn’t make it any less stupid

Cash shouldn’t care about what people think but he should care about giving his team the best chance to win.

6 IP or more 11x in 2019. 18x in 2018.

Don't look at 2020, Every team was babying their starters in COVID year.

Except what Jim said is incorrect :)

Snell's thrown 101 1/3 innings in his career facing the order the 3rd time and they have been pretty s*****. Career ERA of 4.97.

Another gross example of sticking to the pregame plan and not using your damn eyes

Agreed.

Dave Roberts is just as bad

Also agree somewhat, their forced so you can't really s*** on them.

He was freaking "on!" this game. You can't compare this to a normal start. And even if you did want to go to the bullpen, there are plenty of better choices than Anderson.

Why do you keep ignoring the person who is posting Andersons last 6 outings?

I guess we should start pinch hitting for Seager or Betts if they have bad numbers against a particular pitcher too. Dont treat your best like you would average players.

Kenley's closing tonight, book it. Well, if the scenario arises of course.

I get it. Again - not saying it's right or wrong, but if you want SSS, then Snell's ERA the 3rd time through is 6.35.

If people want to talk about "going with your best" when the game is on the line. Nick Anderson has essentially been the best reliver in baseball since arriving in TB last year. FIP of about 1.50. 2 WAR in 37 2/3 innings. But I get it, he hasn't been as dominant lately....but your weighing that v. Snell against the lineup a 3rd time where he's historically been poor too. TB makes these types of moves and has really good success more often than not.

Yeah, I was looking at the games in 2018 and 2019 when Snell went more than 6IP and didn't notice any blowups 3rd time through. He was having one of those games.

It sucks for baseball fans too, and hence MLB. I'm sure the 200 Rays fans watching the game are pissed.

How many times was he "on" his game in the 100 innings he's faced a lineup for a 3rd time in his career? It may be more than you think.

But we were all watching Snell at his best with our very eyes. We had no idea how Anderson would look and given his recent track record, it didn't seem like a smart move. Guess they need to update some of their formulas to adapt better to recent situations.
