el duque Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Gurriel missed the cycle but how much fun to watch him
SydneyJay Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Bichette had a 5-5, Kirk a 4-4 and now Lourdes a 4-4. Love it when a batter has a game like this. Bit of luck at first base here. Capitalise on it, JD.
TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Lol I hope this is sarcasm.... What. Why would we want to play the Rays who torment us and are definitely going to f*** us?
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Yeah, this is possibly pissing me off more than it should, but we really need to avoid the House of Horrors. And it’s right there for our taking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You would rather play Cleveland, instead of Tampa? I want no part of the Indians rotation.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 What. Why would we want to play the Rays who torment us and are definitely going to f*** us? Clearly the Jays are not trying to win this game. They want to play Tampa.
TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Clearly the Jays are not trying to win this game. They want to play Tampa. That's dum.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Looks like the other option might be Cleveland. Cleveland's lineup isn't great, their starting pitching is a horror show. Indians have taken the lead so, yeah, while Tampa is the better team, the Indians rotation is scary. I wanted the White Sox, but if that’s out of the question then pick your poison.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 That's dum. Maybe not, probably better to play the team you've seen a lot of rather than the team you haven't seen at all.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 I think coaches and Mgm have underestimated the Trop factor for us in laying up on today. I get their rationale with the arms. I do. It’s a tough one. But our history there is just pain and misery. Not playing them there in round 1 has upside. 6 more outs to win this. Let’s do it. This is not the same team that used to have major problems in the trop
TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 You would rather play Cleveland, instead of Tampa? I want no part of the Indians rotation. You just know the Rays are going to analytics the hell out of the Jays before the series... meanwhile the Jays have Muntardo at the helm.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Bring on the fackin Rays! f*** em!!! Well, if we lose...
TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Maybe not, probably better to play the team you've seen a lot of rather than the team you haven't seen at all. That's even dummer... regardless of who we play we've seen each team the same as they've seen us.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 The Trop, the Rays, etc don't outweigh that a 3 game series is a crapshoot.
el duque Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 PiaÑa power Gurriel and the BJs going to Tampa,
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Facing the Indians would have been awful. Their starters are excellent and the offense is on fire right now. Tampa is the better matchup
TheDragon Verified Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 The Trop, the Rays, etc don't outweigh that a 3 game series is a crapshoot. That's actually the dumnest mentality.... you should be vying for every possible edge which gives your team the highest win probability. If a team has a 33.3% win probably and still wins, that doesn't mean it's a crapshoot, it just means they had 1 in 3 chance of winning and they won.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Gurriel boosted his wRC+ from 126 to 138 with that game. Vladdy finishes the season at a disappointing, but still respectable 115. Statcast still doesn't have the EV for Gurriel's baseball murdering homerun. I'm thinking it may have been too fast for the technology to actually register.

My post doesn't say otherwise. You do seem to be getting a little overwrought over this.

Nor do I, as I still have PTSD from them getting strikes 6” outside the zone until they met the Cubs in the WS, but would you rather face them or the Rays with a win percentage of 0.000001% in that house of horrors? Either way it’s moot now but, we don’t take 2 of 3 at the Trop ever, so fingers, toes, signs crossed that changes. Quick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Projected to a full season he'd be very close to where Carlos Delgado was in his first full season, 1996. .260ish 25 homers, 90 rbis...
