Attaboy Gurriel! That's a great way to make up for your earlier mistake. He's been excellent since he started heating up offensively.

He was a plus-plus baserunner last year, usually a good one over his career. He's been a negative runner this year though, and his sprint speed is down, maybe he's making the decisions he used to when he was faster but doesn't have that quickness anymore and it's costing him. He is a bad fielder though, what we're seeing from his on defense was probably to be expected.

That makes sense to me, although that last play at third had nothing to do with him being slower, just a dumb decision. I'm willing to chalk some of it up to new team jitters.

He pulled his hands in beautifully on that HR

Gurriel is a good hitter...It was just a matter of time. He's just lacking a few homers and those can come in bunches. Gurriel has good power.

Yeah he’s a very streaky hitter, he’s usually super hot or super cold

Man Giles isn't pitching again until Saturday. They are taking things slow with him. I hope he's back for the Yankee series.

Any updates with Bichette?

I feel like they're being really cautious with him too. Given what he's doing already, he should be targeting the Yankees series too. That probably won't happen though.

This Alfaro AB is guaranteeing that Ryu doesn't pitch in the 7th, and at this rate he might not come out for the 6th either.

and then he swings at something in the dirt, that's super annoying

Jonah Birenbaum

@birenball

Danny Jansen is now 162 games into his MLB career, and has a .207/.294/.360 line (76 OPS+) to show for it. Take out his 31-game cameo in 2018 and that plummets to .200/.283/.346 (68 OPS+). He was touted as a bat-first catcher. It'd be real nice if he, y'know, started hitting.
