dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Good bye Dalton Pompey 2.0 aka Anthony Gose 3.0
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 Let's DFA Trent Thornton next
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 DFA’d Alford to have Thornton struggle to throw one inning.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Is todd dead? I thought for sure he would've chimed in already.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Is todd dead? I thought for sure he would've chimed in already. Speaking of which, I owe Todd a formal apology.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Lasted a long time on the 40 for a guy Todd had outside his top 100 Blue Jays prospects
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 lol... I was like maybe 10 years old for that commercial.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Let's DFA Trent Thornton next I'd rather we DFA you.

5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Todd was right all along.
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Hope this doesn't turnout into another Gio Urshela part 2. Never really gave the guy a legitimate chance and soon as he leaves he turnout to be very good everyday MLB player with better skills than some on this team who they kept.

flafson Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Kinda hard to rule a guy out after 75 ab’s if you ask me...
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 This could be good for Anthony Alford, a team that picks him up will likely have more opportunities for him to play like the Orioles or Marlins. Maybe even the Red Sox or Yankees. He has a lot of tools, it just couldn’t manifest here. With Grichuk, Teoscar, and Gurriel all heating up there’s no chance for him to be more than just a pinch runner. Great guy & I wish him all the best.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 He's gone, so be it, if he's claimed GL kid.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Lasted a long time on the 40 for a guy Todd had outside his top 100 Blue Jays prospects 104 if I recall correctly. That was a ballsy, unpopular, but CORRECT assertion on his part.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 No chance. ....unless the Yankees get him. Definitely wishing all the best to Alford. Seems like a good guy and easy to root for. Hopefully he goes to a team that gives him a chance to play.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 He can’t hit an MLB fastball. Maybe some other team can fix the giant hole in his swing but that’s hard to imagine. I don’t think it’s a case of “needs more playing time”. It’s a pretty fundamental skill that he lacks.
Norman Verified Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Good morning everybody. Just for the record this is Todd. Had to change my profile because the old one did not work. And for the no bragging about alford but i was right.

Could never tell if late or just a horrible swing plane or both. He seemed to quick hands a quick bat so seeing him beat so consistently baffled me. Maybe someone else can figure it out and harness the athleticism he has.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Anthony Alford vs. 4 seamers, career: .053/.143/.211 6 wRC+ 20.2 SwStr% (129 pitches) Compare to another horrible baseball player with similar tools package, Lewis Brinson: .222/.271/.415 90 wRC+ 11.6 SwStr% (920 pitches) Compare to one of the worst non-pitcher hitters I could think of in the modern era who got a decent amount of playing time, Paul Janish: .197/.286/.261 63 wRC+ 6.0 SwStr% (2029 pitches) Jeff Mathis: .178/.265/.280 59 wRC+ 13.2 SwStr% There are many, many pitchers who can at least make contact against fastballs more often than Alford has.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 What did dumbshit do to get banned this time?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 The Ricky Vaughn of FB hitting?! Yup. Danny Jansen realized a few years ago that he needed glasses. It happens from time to time. Inexcusable if it happens after they ditch him though.
