glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Teoscar has been on a tear since last June. Exit velo doesn’t lie.
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 His ceiling isn't a number 5. It's much higher. I think we have to at least give him a shot as a starter to see if he can maintain 95+ for 6 innings
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 I can see Borucki as a bulk reliever following an opener.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Teoscar has been on a tear since last June. Exit velo doesn’t lie. Only possible knock on him right now is his k/bb, but if he's managing a .677 SLG, I think we can all give him a pass on that one.

Right now his BB/K ratio is a tiny 0.11 and his wRC+ is 158. No players since 1945 over their career have had a BB/K that low and been an above average hitter. Javier Baez (0.17 and 104 wRC+) and Tim Anderson (0.13 and 99 wRC+) are the closest. When you think about great hitters with s***** BB/K ratios, it's players like Matt Kemp and Jose Abreu who are examples. Both have better BB/K rates than Teoscar but he could do something similar if he could just walk a bit more while maintaining his current K rate.

This seemed quite concerning to me until I looked at his stats and realized he's only had 68 plate appearances. I checked his 2nd half hot streak to see if it was as lucky as this one, but his walk rate was 10% which was above his career average. Teoscar isn't likely a 50% above average hitter. He came into the year just a tick above league average. It is possible he's 15 to 20%+ above league average, which is just fine with me.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 I'm 5 vodkas into tonight. I hope I stay awake for the 6:37 first pitch. Cheers!!!

Why don't you go read my posts? I said Rowdy was a good player when he had a .501 OPS and everyone laughed. I haven't changed my opinion once you sexy piece of man meat!
