bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Dan's explanation sounds like ******** Seriously, what about game 3 of the 2013 world series, they let the cards f***ing walk off on the same play.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 I don't think there would be an issue had the second base ump not signalled to Gurriel. Also, how can they definitively say he wouldn't have made it? Exactly! Gurriel got his leg trampled and then tripped as a result. Who are the umpires to decide he wouldn't have definitively made it or not?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 I have to admit I didn't know that one Me neither, all the years we played, your just awarded the next bag, I thought, interesting. That's a pretty stupid rule.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Was Bichette slipping around like that a sign of an inferior field?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Bichette seems like a pretty s***** SS tbh
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Bo not having a solid inning...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Jesus Bo, rough couple of plays.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Ryu must really miss the Dodgers lol.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Bichette seems like a pretty s***** SS tbh He will be fine. He has the range and plenty of arm strength to play SS. Just needs the reps.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Bichette seems like a pretty s***** SS tbh I'm really not convinced he won't be usurped by Groshans or Martin and be moved down the defensive spectrum. He can make some highlight plays but struggle on routine stuff. With that said he's young and has made strides on that front, he could continue to improve towards average.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 He will be fine. He has the range and plenty of arm strength to play SS. Just needs the reps. Idk, this isn't an isolated incident but he kinda has hands of stone and isn't very accurate on throws.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Can't blame Gurriel for still being salty over that. Total ********.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 He will be fine. He has the range and plenty of arm strength to play SS. Just needs the reps. I don't know tbh. I think he eventually ends up at 2B with Biggio turning into a super utility type.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Rule 7.06( Comment: Under 7.06( when the ball is not dead on obstruction and an obstructed runner advances beyond the base which, in the umpire’s judgment, he would have been awarded because of being obstructed, he does so at his own peril and may be tagged out. This is a judgment call. The big question is why not call time.

If Groshans is the one that stays at SS and Bo goes to 3B or 2B would be interesting. We have great infield prospects whoever ends up the best at each spot sounds like a good problem to have.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 The big question is why not call time How much do you wanna bet Gurriel didnt know this rule either
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Marcus Semien comes to mind when I think of players who was a nightmare SS and turned himself into a very competent SS. And I don’t think Bo is as bad as he was to start. Not worried about Bo yet but only time will tell.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Vlad it first run down should be interesting
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 That's a horseshit rule. You might as well always obstruct and then leave it up to the whims of these fat umpires. Especially if you're the Yankees or some other team that gets gifted all the calls anyway.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 How the f*** does Montoya choose Panik as the DH over Tellez?

You just let him go at it until someone pushes him to second.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 How much do you wanna bet Gurriel didnt know this rule either Did you, ex-player? lol
Ex Player Verified Member Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Did you, ex-player? lol Hell no And neither did anyone else in the stadium
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 I could be talking out of my ass but Bo's glove seems a bit long for a middle infielder.
