Are they going to be showing any games of "Spring Training v2"?

Are their going to actually be spring training games or will teams be doing other things (like using their 60 man rosters or local teams) to simulate game situations.

I haven’t heard about there actually being any spring training games. Maybe there will be, but that would involve more travel since teams are reporting to their home ballparks. I’d imagine ST will be simulated games.

First two weeks of the season will basically be bullpens galore.

Blue Jays landing today at Pearson's main terminal. On today's flight Vladimir Guerrero, Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio etc. Second flight planned for Saturday.

Well that answers that, lol.

They won’t be allowed to fly here if they tested positive right? I’m assuming the kids are safe. Edited by BlueRocky

Smart move by the Jays putting the most valuable members of the squad on the first flight.

Davidi mentioned anyone with Covid can’t board the plane so looks like anyone who is on the way or already there is safe for now.

That is surprisingly low considering most of them were in Florida, Texas, Arizona and California.

Apparently a few teams have cancelled their workouts due to not getting test results back yet (Nats, Astros, A's). Rob Manfred probably saving a few bucks somehow in the testing protocol.

Testing sounds like a complete disaster.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to play if it's going to be this bad and safety is at risk.

This whole season is shaping up to be an absolute shitshow and they should probably just cancel it.

$$$

There are people working in much more risky environments who are pumped they are getting $1-2 more per hour.

If Alford can just hit for average instead of swinging for the fence at every count, he can be a good 4th OF with glove and pinch runner.

But Davis can also do that and draws walks and strikeout less. Alford has more power.

Alford has 29.4 ft/s sprint speed in 2019, good for 96.2 percentile. Davis has 28.4 ft/s, good for 82.8 percentile. So Alford is faster as a pure pinch runner. Alford had some comical defense last season though.

Sadly despite the outstanding physical tools Alford possesses he's at the point where I think that Jonathan Davis is his likely ceiling. And he's unlikely to even reach that ceiling now.

They now have fans in the stands (not stuffed animals) in CPBL

Wonder when we can have fans again.

Shapiro said no matter where they play this season there will be no fans.

That's odd because I see players getting added to the 10 day IL everyday now (thru Rotoworld) with little to no information on why (which I'd assume meant they got COVID). It appears that isn't the case.

From what I understand, MLB is going to announce the # of players who tested positive for Covid, but cannot announce the specific player names who tested positive without their consent. So who knows what's really going on with the players going on the IL. Could be Covid, could be something else. Like I haven't heard anything about Drury. He went on the IL at the same time as Jonathan Davis, Hector Perez, etc, but the latter have reported to camp, while I don't think I've heard Drury's name at all.

Regardless, as long as numbers are low, and testing issues are fixed, then it's a good sign for now.
